I need some professional advice about upgrading my camera gear. I am struggling to decide between getting a 4/3, DSLR, or bridge-style camera. My wife and I own a dance studio, so I need a good camera to take photos and videos of our dancers performing at theaters. Basically, I need a camera and lens set-up that is great for shooting fast action in low light. My challenge is I have a budget of $1000 (Canadian). These are the options I am considering: a bridge/compact camera: Sony RX100,...
I am interested in buying a Pentax DSLR, K3 II or anything else. Since I am fine with APS-C sized sensor, and 16MP or higher, I can choose just about any of the currently available Pentaxii. However I do want to do some simple videography with my choice, also. Which one gives the best video? The K-5 IIs? The K-S2? Or have there been any reviews of the K-3 II that review its video quality...? I am going to use this camera while traveling, so, want to avoid the expense and weight of taking...

I am a K-30 and K-M user and am thinking of upgrading. The K-S2 seems to be a feasible choice but the current price of the K-5 iis is quite attractive compared to the K-S2. I've heard that the K-5 IIs has better sharpness than the K-30 due to the lacking of the low pass filter. Also high ISO performance is better as well. I've held the K-5 original before and have to say the overall construction of the body is way better than the K-30, but heavier as well. The K-S2 obviously has all the...
Hi all, Pentax K-5 IIs or Nikon D5500 both bodies are the same price at the moment weather sealing aside, which one do you think is better for general still photography - i never use video looking at either one with the tamron 17-50 f2.8 as a solo lens to work with first that lens seems to get good raves for the pricepoint.... i have read reviews on k52s and d5500 and i am still up in the air.... is the viewfinder a deal breaker cheers and thanks in advance
Every sensor is different regarding the filter stack, microlenses, etc. I'm no optical engineer, but I do know that the same lens can perform differently on different sensors. Can anyone comment on how the DA 14 appears to be doing on the higher-MP Pentax bodies? The DA 15 seemed fine on the K10, but is now had its reputation somewhat sullied lately by very soft edges on the k5 and later bodies. Has the DA 14 held up any better, or does the criticism "soft wide open" still apply? Matt --......
I have been using my new K-5 IIs for 4 months now and never had a problem with pushing SD card in or getting it out. Today it suddenly doesn't want to get out of the camera. Looks like I put little bit more pressure last night. When I press the card, nothing happens. I don't feel the click after which I release the pressure and let the card eject. Any ideas here? I don't want to damage the card or the card slot trying to do something stupid. -- RonakFlickr -...
I have just bought this camera, and up until now, with other cameras, I have found Photo Ninja to offer the best raw conversions right out of the box, compared to Aperture (next in line), DXO (next best), and Lightroom (4th best). I realize that all of these can be tweaked to achieve the same output, but PN gives me the results with the least effort. All I have to do is tell it that I want a landscape preset or a portrait preset, and everything else I want done can be done to the resulting...
Can anyone confirm, deny, or comment on: Any differences in corner/edge sharpness on these lenses when paired with the K5 II vs. the K5 IIs? The background is that I am not satisfied with the AF on my k5 and plan to upgrade to a K5II or K5 IIs now that the prices have come down. The question is, get the k5 IIs for potentially improved corner sharpness on the wide angles or save the cash and just get the K5 II. Anyone notice their corners of their DA 15 sharpen up noticeably with the K5...
