Hi all, I waffled through the Black Friday deals on a new K5II and as you know, they're going fast. I ended up buying a used one from B & H, whom I've always had good service from. The one I bought was rated as a 9 ("shows signs of use but very clean"). The camera arrived today via UPS. On inspection, I noticed the hot shoe has a missing contact, shown in the lousy picture below. (The EXIF data is wrong for this picture; it must be set wrong in my P & S camera). I paid more than the camera...

HELP!! I recently upgraded to a K5 II from a K10d.   I run Lightroom 3.6 on Windows XP (so can't upgrade to current LR version). Problem is, LR 3.6 won't read RAW files from the K5 II. Tried switching to DNG format, but still not seeing the files in LR. Been searching the net, but can't find a solution. Can anyone help? Thanks all. --Proud Pentax Owner

Hello, I'm on the fence to upgrade from K20D to K-5 II or K-3. I'm running into the limits of my K20D when I try to take pictures of people dancing salsa at parties. My setup is K20D, Metz Mecablitz 50 AF-1 and DA SMC 16-45 f/4. The venues are dark. (1/6 sec F/4 ISO 1600 without flash) When taking portraits of standing or sitting guests the autofocus takes seconds to lock, even when using the red focus light on the Metz 50 AF-1. It bothers me but I can live with that. Taking shots of dancing...

Given the current prices at B&H, I will buy the DA 55-300mm/4-5.8 lens. The K-3 does not interest me - I have a K-5 that is almost two years old and that is heavily used. Does it make sense to buy a K-5 II as a backup body (the price on the K-5 II is almost $400 less than what I paid for the K-5). Thanks for your input. Glen

Hello everyone I'm about to buy a macro lens for my K10d and I considering the Tamron 90mm 2.8 because of its moderate price tag ( about 400 euros here in Greece) and because of its good optical quality. But there are many reviews talking about very slow AF speed and focus hunting! Has anybody in this forum used the Tamron lens?? Is the AF  really so bad? I would go for the Pentax 100mm WR, but the price difference is big and I'm also saving money for the K5 II. Thanks in advance for the...

It would be very nice if anyone can share shots or show links from the new limiteds which include full metadata ("exifs")  including makernotes, best ooC JPGs. For the 15 and 70 if've found some, but not for the three mentioned.

Hello, I am a relatively new owner of a K-5 II (may '13 vintage). I love the results I am getting with it and it must surely do better than what I am currently capable of. That said, I took it out for a spin in London recently (weather: drizzling occasionally) and the on-off (DoF preview) button has started to become very stiff. When moved the DoF preview notch, the button used to return very quickly to the "on" position. Now, it moves very sluggishly and sometimes needs to be helped back to...

Hello, today my new Pentax K-5 II arrived and I am impressed by its look and feeling. But unfortunately I made a bothersome finding: Turning the camera through 180° (from left to right or from up to down) I hear s.th. inside the camera and have the impression that there is something slackly inside it. At first I thought it was the battery. But the feeling persist even after removing the battery. Anyway I just wanted to ask you, if you also made experiances like this or if this is rather...

Hoping to upgrade to K5 II and broaden my kit.  If I can afford just one accessory with this purchase should it be: 1) the battery grip.  2) DA 18-135 walkabout lens 3) DA 55-300,  What I already have is K20 w/ DA 16-50 2.8, Sigma 70-200 2.8 (last pre-digital edition) 1.4 and 2x Sigma 2x teleconverters, DAF 100 2.8 macro, that equipment is what I normally carry and use.  I also have the FA 24-90 from my film days, the DA 18-55 kit lens (never used becuase of the DA 16-50) and my original 50...

I have been reading through this forum and trying to get a grasp on the Pentax cameras.  I was recently shopping for a new DSLR, I was a Canon guy that transitioned to m4/3.  That format doesn't seem to be right for me.  I have tried, but the same reasons that drove me to it, are driving me away from it.  Anyways, I happened upon the Pentax K-30.  The specs seem great, and the look of it is also very nice.  I see that there are plenty of lenses, at least for me.  So onto the questions. 1....
