I'm about to the order the K-1, I don't have any FF glass so will also be ordering a lens. As with the K-5 eventually I'll hope to end up with a few primes and a couple of zooms, mostly in the wide to short tele range. I've been searching for any DNG samples from the 28-105 as it seems to have good corner sharpness (better than the 24-70mm?), but as of yet I haven't turned up any good DNGs, has anyone else found any? / The best (non-DNG) has been this OOC jpeg from the www.ephotozine.com...

Saved some money and getting closer to pull the trigger on the K-1. Currently I'm using the K3 and have the FA 31mm f/1.8 and FA 50mm f/1.4 Also the DA 50-135mm f2.8 and the Sigma 10-20 f3.5 Just need your opinion on the lens I should think of getting with the K-1 I'm getting the new Pentax 70-200 for sure. Not sure about the 15-30 and 24-70 yet. Used to have the Macro 35mm limited but it took a hard hit and broke!  If I get the new 3 FF lenses and the K-1, It will be more than $8000...

I am expecting my new to me K5 to arrive any day now. I have been coveting Pentax cameras from the time K7 came. I like a good pentaprism, IBIS and the Pentax cameras give more adjustability than I could imagine. But reading the manual I discovered that I can not use wireleslly the AF540FGZ in HSS mode with the built-in flash as commander. That is a disappointment because that is the way I am used to use external flashes. The manual says I must mount another AF540FGZ or AF360FGZ on the K5 to...

Hello, I have just ordered my first PENTAX, a K5. I have searched ebay for a genuine D-LI90 battery but I only found third party imitations. Also I have searched amazon for guide books dedicated to the K5 but found one or two in Japanese and none in English. For other Nikon, Sony etc cameras there are plenty from well known publishing houses. Where should I look for?

I'm upgrading cameras every 5 years or so, my current is a K-5 - which has served me very well indeed. I'm not someone who wishes to acquire every latest slight step-up in technology: the K-5 is a great camera which I still use as a professional tool, yet 2x step up in resolution would help. So the K-1. I'm going to order one soon ...but lenses that do the 36MP justice? Pentax lenses I currently use: 15mm Limited: very very very amazing centre resolution, though poor corners; this lens I...

Hello all, I just recently got elected assistant photo editor for my college's newspaper, and out chief editor doesn't shoot sports or action, so I'm told that I will be cover most or all sporting events for next semester! That being said, I plan on scrapping my K-5, and saving up this summer for a new set up, specifically for sports and action shots. As a college student, I would like to spend under $2,000.  I've heard great things about the 70D, and I was planning on buying the body only...

Leaving pixel shift out of this, I noticed just the colors as shown in the dpreview studio shot are very different between the K-3 and K-3ii. The reds in the K-3ii are considerably more muted, skin tones especially look a lot less plastic as a result. The sharpening algorithm in the K-3ii seems more sophisticated. The K-5ii is only available in the old studio test scene, but as far as I can tell the default saturation is really high, and both reds and greens almost fluorescent. It seems...

I've been using Vivitar 283s and 285s for thirty-some years, one on camera, others triggered by slaves, or often just an on-camera flash bounced off walls or ceiling. There is always a bit of trial and error involved in getting perfect exposure. I would like to get the best dedicated shoe mount flash I can for candid people photography. Is the Pentax AF540FGZ II my best bet, or is something from Metz or Sigma going to do the job as well or better? --Jonathan BlocherInstructor of Art, Design,...
