Hello fellow Pentax bird shooters. I have not posted in a while because I've been tied up with other things. I'd appreciate your advice based on your experience (not test charts) in photographing birds, and specifically BIF. Please note that I have spent several hours searching this forum and others and have seen many examples of what Pentax and other brands can do in the BIF department. However, the pricing on the K3 in particular now is pressing me to consider options and if I'm going to...
I may have missed something, but I suspect there isn't yet such a converter. I would love one as I've just managed to acquire a Pentax K 28/3.5 shift lens. Unfortunately that gives a 42mm crop on my K-5 and wouldn't I very much enjoy getting 11mm of shift in any direction at a crop factor of 28mm. Thanks in advance, --BAB
I upgraded from the K-5. I have the impression from lurking around various forums that the while the K-3 features many, many important improvements over its predecessors, the K-5 series still reigns supreme in terms of usable ISO range. Of course, I am NOT stating this as fact. It's only an impression, a gathered notion. What do you think? And what do you feel is the K-3's usable ISO range? Do you use Noise Ninja or similar software when you edit your serious photos, as a matter of routine,...
Apologies if I'm beating a dead horse here. I'm contemplating on getting either of these two cams. Understandably that without the AA filter the K-5IIs certainly wins in sharpness. But, with the K-5II, can a little bit of USM bring up the sharpness closer to that of the K-5IIs? Personally I prefer the IIs, but keeping clear of moire is a good option. But if USM can help with bringing put that sharpness, then the K-5II should be a more 'practical' tool for me. Or, is there any software that...
Do most cameras take better pics (maybe better tonal range) when set to black and white than you would see if you converted a color pic to black and white in post using something easy like Google's Picasa or Flickr's editor? This would be for jpegs, I know RAW its a non issue.
I'm looking for purchase recommendations here. I am a furniture maker and need a camera to take quality shots of my pieces but this is going to be my all in one camera so I'm thinking I'd take it back packing occasionally and I generally enjoy photography as a hobby so it would definitely get more use outside my main goal of product shots, but that is the reason I am willing to drop a wad of hard earned cash on a better camera. Its hard to sell a beautiful product on line without beautiful...
