Just bought a pentax k30 & set it up to use manual focus old lenses. Also bought a pentax F 300mm prime lens. When I went to use it for 1st time today, it started to autofocus ok. After say 5 min use, it stopped working in AF mode - it wouldn't focus lock onto any target. U press the shutter button, green circle flashes in viewfinder, but it won't focus. Lens will work in MF mode. Any help much appreciated, thx
I am just starting out with DSLRs. I have had my K30 for about a year. I mostly want to shoot Landscapes, Nature, and wildlife, and find my DAL 55-300, and 18-270 a bit short sometimes. I intended to buy the Sigma 150-500, mainly because it is least expensive. Then decided the 50-500 would give better images, assuming I can set up and use it properly. Now I have read that the Pentax DA* 300 and a teleconverter is some photographers preference. My options are: DA* 300 Pentax and a Vivitar 2X...
It would make perfect sense to be able to have one control dial control shutter speed, the other ISO and for the aperture ring to control aperture. I can't seem to configure this behaviour though. I can set the control dials to control the appropriate parameters in Tv mode, but that doesn't work with non-A lenses and in any case isn't designed for what I want. The only options for M mode are which dial does aperture and which shutter speed. If you use a manual lens, one control dial becomes...
I attempt a lot of landscape photos--trying to hit the light right to make some of those images special. I've been using ACDSee Pro 6 for about a year, with OK results. I'm still learning a lot about the program but I enjoy the process (so to speak). As a result of my interest in these landscape images, I tend to have a fair number that have a "split histogram", with two lobes--one clustered in the shadows and one clustered in mid-/high-lights. These are low light shots that I'm generally...
Happy Hollidays and New Year ... and after not getting my favorite camera this year (maybe next year ?) I started wondering what mirroless camera would be better/best for astrophotography by IQ and ease of use/features. I think Olympus has some interesting features like Live Bulb for taking the guessing out of getting the best exposure, also tilting touch screen, weatherproofing (against dew) and battery grip on OM-D E-M5/1 and E-P5 (not all those feature available to E-P5). Also Fujifilm has...
Hi, I wonder if anyone here has had any difficulty with ACDSee Pro 6. I think that's Windows only, right? Mine is running on a Lenovo Thinkpad 510--a few years old (Windows 7). Up until recently, I hadn't tried using the Batch Adjust Exposure function, but wanted to do so. I am shooting with Pentax: a K-5 and a K-30. I am unable to access the Batch Adjust Exposure option for either PEF and DNG RAW files. Batch Develop IS available, but not Batch Adjust Exposure. This function (and all other...
