I have owned a Samsung GX20 for 5 years. Bought at an airport VAT free for just over £300 in 2009. I have put about 10,000 shots on it and it has never let me down. Prices for the GX 20 have now fallen just below the £200 mark. So before they drop too far, i want to up grade. My choice of models are in the heading. A lot of my photography is wildlife, pets, landscapes and nightime astra photography. I have a selection of lenses both auto and manual, having owned Pentax cameras since my first...

Sorry if this has been asked before. I have a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 APO DG EX Lens - It is the non macro version. I have the ability to buy a 2nd hand Sigma 2x DG EX teleconverter. I just wanted to know if it will be compatible. I have heard it is not compatible with the new macro version of the lens. Any help will be really appreciated. Anthony PS = I am using a K30

I own a K-30 and have the kit lens 18-55mm WR it works well and coupled with the legacy primes I have gives me a good choice of focal length to use.  I own 50mm f1.7, 135mm f2.8 and 200mm primes. Unfortunately I have recently managed to put a good scratch on the 200mm and given the focusing ring has stared to slip that lens is basically unusable now. So what I'd like are suggestions for a zoom lens to cover the 55mm+ range going up to at least 200, but if I can get more range without losing...

I have the standard smc -dal 1:35-5.6 18-55mm AL that came with my camera but I find it's magnification isnt enough to take pictures of the mountains 60 miles away. I new to this and don't know the terms for things so if I use the wrong lingo thats why. So to get to my question ,I want to bring the mountains up closer ,and was wondering if a Pentax DAL SMC f/4-5.6 50-200 mm ED autofocus 53 mm lens would be much better . I read up on this lens but have no clue what they are saying because of...

I am not much more than a beginner, but have decent gear, and basic understanding of the different settings & so forth. There is a tree about 300 yds that a hawk uses for a perch fairly often. I have been trying to get a good sharp shot of it for months. I have a Pentax K30, and started with the kit 55-300 that came with my camera. I have tried to move in closer, but the hawk spooks & flies away. So I got a Sigma 50 -500 in hopes of doing better, and it does. But when I crop to 100%, the...

There is a current thread about highlight and shadow correction. My attempt to learn more about about these turned up many discussions and various opinions that seemed informed, but nothing authoritative so in desperation I turned to my Pentax K30 manual. The section header said, "Expands the dynamic range and enables a wider range of tones expression by the CMOS sensor and reduces the occurrence of overexposed and underexposed areas." The only other information I found said, "When Highlight...

Hi guys, Just got a new K-30, camera firmware is still at 1.00. I skimmed the firmware update history page but found nothing that felt like a must have:http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/support/digital/k-30_s.html Any K-30 user opinions on this? Are there any hidden gems in the "Improved stability for general performance" fixes? --Regards,Johan - Swehttp://joj.smugmug.comhttp://joj.smugmug.com/Lenses

I can buy a K-30 with 18-55 WR lens, still under warranty and with 11,000 shutter count for AU$500. My intention is to have it dedicated to manual lenses if I buy it. Do you think it's good/fair value? Thank you in advance. Ben --Ben.C&C are welcome.http://www.flickr.com/photos/benoz/http://www.dpreview.com/galleries/8665818321/photos

OK, let me apologize from the outset that you'll have to do a little jumping around to understand my question, but I don't think it will be too bad. Somehow, I have a few Pentax bodies: my original K5, a K30, and a K5II. They're probably not all staying but I'm still in the sifting and sorting stage. At the end of the day though, this is the generation of bodies I plan to be shooting with for a long time. I often shoot scenes with high dynamic range. I'm not a huge fan of in-camera HDR...
