Hello All, First of all, I would like to make it clear that my intention is not to create a "Flame Bait" thread. I am genuinely interested in getting some technical/real world answers. Sorry for the long post. I currently own Canon xsi with a kit lens and have been pretty happy with it until it got wet during one of my travels. So I was looking to buy a new camera (or rather upgrade). Since I am not yet invested in any "system", I was considering ALL the brands. Pentax and Sony mirror-less...

I upgraded from the K-5. I have the impression from lurking around various forums that the while the K-3 features many, many important improvements over its predecessors, the K-5 series still reigns supreme in terms of usable ISO range. Of course, I am NOT stating this as fact. It's only an impression, a gathered notion. What do you think? And what do you feel is the K-3's usable ISO range? Do you use Noise Ninja or similar software when you edit your serious photos, as a matter of routine,...

I'm trying to decide between a Sony A6000 APS-C, Pentax K-3 APS-C and a Nikon D610 full frame. I think I'll like the Pentax a lot (lots of bang for the buck/great reviews) but no one local (Portland, OR) carries it so I cannot get my hands on it to test it out. My concern is that I'll grow into the limits of thea6000 or K-3 too soon and end up wishing I had the full frame all too soon down the road. Do I go k-3 now (The Pentax body can be had for about 65% the cost of the Nikon and the a6000...

Still awaiting my camera's arrival, and knowing that the 5Diii can make copyright statements in camera to stamp every photograph or put the date, wanted to ask (a) if it's not possible on the K-3; and (b) how one can place a logo as part of one's copyright? We've all seen the many imaginative ways photogs have stamped their work: maybe a shutter image with the person's name, etc.  I have learned today that one can make a PNG file, which apparently saves the image/art without a white...

Hi all,  I got quite freaked out after doing a professional shoot yesterday and seeing that all the images looked weird until I got them into develop mode on ACDSee and they went back to a more neutral look. I the discovered that the camera was set on Bleach Bypass so there isn't something wrong with my K3 after all. Phew. But it got me thinking, what is the point of being able to set the camera to bleach bypass etc when in RAW  if you then can't retain that look because it pops back to...

My camera experience started during the 60's and 70's with Pentax Spotmatic and Nikon 35mm film. They cost a lot of money but had a great feel of quality when one's hands operated the various buttons etc. My interest faded but recently I visited a store to look at the 1.5 crop and FF Nikon and Cannon cameras: d7100, d610, d750, 60d and 6d. The store did not have the top Nikon and Canon FF's (which cost more than I want to pay anyway). I was very disappointed at the handling and cheap feel of...

Me again. I'm pretty new to the digiphoto world, but experienced enough in an amateur way in the film world (Canon EOS Elan, Minolta X-570, Pentax K1000 all still active, with 4 or 5 others I've retired). As mentioned prev, I've only had the Fuji X-10 and the cheap Fuji S5200--never an interchangeable-lens DSLR. I'd buy a Canon 7Dii right now if I could, or perhaps a Nikon 7100 (or if money no object, the 5Diii or D8100, but I'm considering the Pentax K-3 because of the deal I can get--$1100...

Like how it used to be on the bodies from the K-5 II and earlier, where the burst frame rate would drop at in the following situation: Mode Dial: TAv ISO: Auto Shot Mode: Burst, High

I've seen several discussions comparing K-5IIs with K-3 & stating that K-5IIs imaghes are slightly sharper than those of the K-3, unless the K-3 image is downsized to the size of K-5II images.  Having just ordered a K-3, I am somewhat concerned about this.  If I set the jpeg size to 16 mega pixels will that improve the K-3 images so that they appear to be as sharp as a K-5IIs (or K-5) image? Thanks.
