After 1.11 to 1.20 update AF key has side effect. 1. "Instant Review" is OFF, "Guide Display" is OFF, "LCD Panel Illumination" is OFF. So LCD is off until explicitly invoked. 2. "AF Button" is AF2 (AF is performed with AF button only). With 1.11 LCD stays off when AF button is pressed. With 1.20 LCD lits black when AF button is pressed. Yes, it looks black but it is on. Question: is there another (new?) option that regular LCD behaviour?
Sorry for the long post. Thanks to those who read it, and thanks in advance for any input, suggestions, etc. OK, first, I'm all excited! I bought a K-3 today! I should get it by Monday! But I have a question: I currently shoot with a K-30. I bought a K-3 in part because of the improved AF performance. I own only ONE lens with the motor built into the lens itself: The Sigma 18-250 OS HSM. I like to shoot sports, but only when my kids are involved. (I'm not a "serious" sports shooter.) I shoot...
Hi, I currently have a midrange zoom and a long zoom for my K-3. The long zoom performs just fine. The midrange zoom seems to have problems with autofocus, and I hear that this is a common problem when people mount non-Pentax lenses on Pentax cameras. Can anyone recommend some midrange zooms for the K-3 that do *not* have focusing problems and produce good quality images? Some I am considering are below. Only some of these have reviews on DXOMark. 1. Pentax smc DA 18-270mm F3.5-6.3 ED SDM 2....
I have been looking at getting into photography for a while now. Since having my two sons and seeing my wife and grandma miss out on a lot of really great photos with regular PS cameras or their phones I am ready to take the plunge into uncharted territory. I'm sure you have all been asked a gazillion times about which one to choose and I know it's going to come down to what I mainly want to take photos of. With that being said I would mainly be taking photos of my family, wildlife around the...
Guys, I want to buy mid range SLR. From what I heard from my friend, Pentax is actually very good for lower price (especially the 2nd hand). In some countries, 2nd hand is only €400ish Now my question is, providing the price is the same, which 1 is better K-3 or 70D or D7100? I dont take video, and mostly I go take pictures in the city How about the lens quality, for example I like my friend's Sigma 18-35 Art on Canon, how is the Pentax premium lenses in comparison with Sigma Art series,...
With all the major advances in still camera video capabilities being talked about of late, I am starting to wonder which, if any, of my cameras would be best at capturing video? Because I really never use that feature. Here are my current cameras: Pentax K-3 Sony NEX-7 Olympus Stylus 1 Canon SX50 HS Panasonic LF-1 I've heard the NEX-7 is good at video, but that its sensor can't take the heat. But other than that, I don't know. One time I videotaped a short dance performance with the SX50...
Hey, First of I was just about to ditch my Pentax gear and change to Olympus. Im quite disappointed with my K5iis even though its a great camera. The autofocus is just not working for me as well as id like it to and the size of the camera meant i could never really take in anywhere. So obviously the next close thing would be the Olympus em5 and with the mark 2 coming out I thought that would be the way to go. I just don't really want to sell all my beloved Pentax gear and the original em5 is...
Something has really struck a positive chord in the look of the k-3 silver edition lately for me. For anyone that has one, how does it look in the flesh? I get a little spooked thinking it might actually have the painted plastic look of an old silver Canon Rebel vs. looking more refined and metal, which I think is the intent. The new Olympus EM5m2 reviews showing their silver body go me thinking about it, as they say it really feels premium in the hand. Does the silver K3 add anything to the...
