Hi, I currently own a Sony A6000 but am considering selling it to get a Samsung NX30. Why the NX30? Well I believe it is the best Samsung APS-C model that has an EVF, except for the NX1 which is still out of my price range. Please correct me if I am wrong, I only have a limited knowledge of Samsung products. Why swap? Basically I like to use legacy glass and in particular Konica Hexanon lenses. The adapters for Sony E-mount are a little large and somewhat spoil the experience. Ideally I'd...
Sorry for the strange title, but: Has anyone held BOTH a Nikon D7100 + grip as well as K-3 + D-BG5? I ask because I have just purchased a Tokina 80-200 f/2.8, I'm thinking about getting a battery grip for my K-3. I first thought about a grip when a friend of mine, who owns a Nikon D7100 with a grip, was raving about how much he loved his. He said it made a world of difference, and that once I tried one, I would never go back. Well, I tried his Nikon D7100 + grip, and ... meh. It just didn't...
Apart from my K-3 I own and use a couple of Pentax MX, Pentax IST* (Film Version) and Pentax MZ5-N I primarily use on my K-3 the 18 - 135 mm Zoom lens but also use the 35mm f/2 and the 50mm f/1.4 plus my MF lenses. My widest lens at the moment is the 18mm of my zoom lens. I also have the Voigtländer 20mm f/3.5. I have come across an application where I need a little more coverage. After reading and watching rather disapointing reviews of the Sigma 10 - 20mm zoom and the Tokina 11-20mm zoom,...
My wife and I bought a cheap Targus monopod from Walmart [$15] when we were on vacation and forgot our better one at home. It seemed like it was fine for the price. Put the monopod on and now it's stuck on the camera [Pentax K-3]. Haven't had a chance yet to contact Targus but am planning on doing it tomorrow. Has anyone else encountered this and if so what did you do about it? We just got the camera a few months ago and we have this stupid part from the monopod stuck to it! The only thing I...
I'm thinking of purchasing a K-3 camera. I'm interested more in image quality, then low light performance. These are the lenses I was thinking about, in my price range: Pentax 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 Pentax 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 Thanks for any help on this matter.
I need some professional advice about upgrading my camera gear. I am struggling to decide between getting a 4/3, DSLR, or bridge-style camera. My wife and I own a dance studio, so I need a good camera to take photos and videos of our dancers performing at theaters. Basically, I need a camera and lens set-up that is great for shooting fast action in low light. My challenge is I have a budget of $1000 (Canadian). These are the options I am considering: a bridge/compact camera: Sony RX100,...
I've been testing my new K-3 using all my lenses and flash. One thing that I found a little bit unusual coming from K20D is that whenever I mount an external flash AF-540FGZ, the LCD on the flash will turn on also when I press the shutter button halfway. I know that there is a setting on the K-3's menu C4-22 where I can set it as High/Low/Off to control how my top LCD gets illuminated. The problem is when I choose High/Low, when I press shutter button, it will also turn on the flash's LCD...
