While Pentax continues to evolve steadily with its technology, its design department seems to have totally lost the plot. It is about as utilitarian and ugly as they get. There was a time when Pentax made compact, pretty-looking cameras, high on 'desire' (from ME Super to ZX-5N/MZ-5N and even *ist DS), but that has given way to a total disregard for aesthetics. Look at the Olympus E400/500... despite their technical flaws, you loook at them and 'want' them. Pentax, please wake-up to the fact ...

Have not had long but found it easier to use right away not like the Olympus E510. Has a good feel, like my D80 Menu is easy to navigate. I like SD format, again like my d80. Some people say well it doesn't have live view, doesn't bother me. Kit lens seem to work well and software is good too. Problems: None.

StaticVision is a Canon user who is selling his Nikon equipment. This according to his profile here on dpreview. He has never owned a K200D and is unqualified to submit a rating for this camera. He states the camera is a "re-badged" camera. Re-badged from what? He knows not what he is talking about. Problems: smaller buffer than the K10D, low fps rate and the "normal" Pentax issue with autofocus in dim light - otherwise is it a fantastic camera

First some background before I get into the K200d review: I've been using a Nikon D40 for over a year now. I love my D40, especially indoors, but I've never quite been able to come to grips with the metering on the D40 outdoors or in high contrast situations (inconsistently overexposes with both matrix and center weighted when single AF point selected - AE seems to be coupled to AF point, can't change that in camera settings, unfortunately). Eventually I can get the exposure correct, but for ...

The K200D is the K10D on steroids! Beautiful build and weather proof construction. Most of the firmwear features of the K20D and in my opinion- very close with the IQ. You can pixel peep all you want and shop until you drop and you won't find a better camera on the market in todays environment. Great new 2.7" screen and enough picture adjustments and controls to last a lifetime. Thanks Pentax for another winning camera! Problems: NONE

Interesting that 2 reviewers here have this camera solid '1's without any explaination - kind of makes me wonder about the value of user reviews here. Anyway, here's my appraisal afer using this body for a few days: SOME PROS: 1. Excellent build quality, feels more expensive than competition under $1000 U.S. 2. Excellent image quality, crisp JPEGs (much better than K10) with lots of control 3. Good performance at ISO 1600 with user-adjustable noise control 4. Weather sealed 5. Very good kit ...

Why dpreview doesn't remove "reviews" like StaticVision did for K200D and K20D? Problems: p.s. my "review" also should be removed, I don't own K200D, I just want to draw attention to those purely negative comments like Staticvision did.

Pay no heed to STATICVISION, fake 'user'. He is not a user/owner of the camera, just a denigrator of Pentax products. He has submitted a similar derogatory 'review' of the K20D. DPReview should be removing his comments. I don't pretend to be a user, but I am an owner of the K100D, which is a fine camera. Later edit: I have since bought this camera and used it for three months, taking over 1000 shots. I have no complaints about it at all. The image quality is sharp and pretty noise free up to ...

This is a great camera. It is very solidly constructed and the user interface is good out of the box and highly customisable, so you can really make it a tool that works extremely well for you. Image quality is excellent. High resolution and low noise straight from the sensor if you shoot RAW. The JPEG quality appears very good too (even though i don't use it much). In body image stabilisation means you get stabilisation even for high-speed primes. Pentax has a number of these in their line ...
