I bought this as my first digital SLR because it just seemed to be better value for money than anything else. This is my first Pentax having had Canon, Nikon, Nikonos, Mamiya, Olympus, Minolta and Ricoh cameras in the past. The shake reduction on this camera is fantastic certainly making hand held photography a reality down to 1/8th sec for 300mm and even 1/180 for 600mm. One feature I didn't think I would use but I actually use often is the RAW button. If I am having trouble getting the ...

The k10d is an excellent camera for the price. In december 2006 i have bougt it and since then i take more than 12.000 pictures whit it. the quality is good til very good till 800iso. But in my opinion to noisy at 1600 iso. (only use that when you need it badly) When you have good lenses you 'l get enormous good pictures. It is a very fast model and it lays good in your hands with the optional grip d-bg2. Whithout it it is not so good as i pleased. The weater seal is perfect and also the ...

I love this camera. Forgetting about the value, which is great, the ease of operation, excellent viewfinder, line of first rate small prime lenses, make it a first rate camera. I've been an amateur photographer for forty years and this is in my top three of favorite cameras across all those years. The only camera I might trade it for is another Pentax. Mark Problems: None

My first DSLR, and wow is it amazing. I have had it for almost a month now and have really put it through the works. Used it with the kit lens, an old 70-200mm MF zoom, and a 50mm MF prime. This camera feels excellent in my large-ish hands. Autofocus is fast, and the controls are intuitive. It is compatible with pretty much every K-mount lens ever made, Pentax has clearly made an effort to ensure backwards-compatibility! I have used the camera in rain and snow already. I can press the ...

My first DSLR, and I'm so glad someone pointed this camera out to me, as I was about to go for the Canon Rebel XTi/400D. I went to the camera store, tried both out, and fell in love with this camera. This is the greatest camera for its value, due to the weatherproofing and built-in shake reduction that you don't find in other cameras twice as expensive. ISO 1600 is noisy, but it still manages to look good somehow. There's a very nice film quality to it. TAv is a nice special mode where you ...

Great upgrade from the DS. It wasn't love at the first sight, mainly because of it's weight and I wondered whether I really needed all these features (Normally all I need is Av, center-weighted metering and center AF). But now the features I Iove most are SR, the second wheel set up for ISO and the Li-Ion Battery which you can really rely 100% upon (I always had trouble with the batteries with the DS). Problems: - I don't mind the alleged bad jpegs (which look great to me), but I give a 4.0 ...

So I just came back from the jungles Peru and while there was a learning curve during the trip, I got he camera about week before the trip, I am happy with my choice. The colors are spectacular, I decided to shoot in RAW, even before I fully read this review, and the pictures are great. I was happy with the manual choices even though I left it on Auto most of the time. The battery life was more than I expected and I only had to recharge twice during an 8 day trip, where I took about 650 ...

After 8 months and 10000 photos taken I still love my K10D. It was not easy to learn and I had problems ocasionaly, but all due to the simple fact that I don't like to read user manuals. I've taken winning pictures under challenging conditions and this well-designed camera was my trusty partner. Problems: I'd wish the program lines to appear on mode dial directly. I like this feature a lot.

The K10D reminded me, after few years of using point&shoot for digital photography, how great it is to take pictures. My first motion was to buy Nikon, as my old SLR camera, but after reading full reviews and trying the popular competition (Rebel XTi of Canon) decided to go for Pentax. Got AMAZING pictures, outdoors, night scene & portraits, and still happy to discover more features, such as incresing ISO for better night shots. The green button is a bliss and the weather seal makes it the ...

I have had my K10D for a month now and absolutely love it. This is my first DSLR and I researched them for atleast 6 months prior to getting the K10D. I debated between the Oly 510 and the D40X. I hated the feel of the grip on the Xti. I just felt that the onboard shake reduction and 12 point focus points (and tons of other reasons) made it a better choice over the the others. I now am shooting primarily in RAW and once I've learned (and still learning) how to PP in CS2, the image quality ...
