I've looked on eBay for a remote shutter release, and I've noticed that the Pentax models mentioned are inconsistent. So, my question: Is the K30 remote shutter release same as other Pentax models, i.e., will a remote for the K10D also work on the K30? Thanks, Greg

Does the Pentax DSLR distortion correction feature apply not just to current DA, etc. lenses but also to discontinued models like the first kit zoom that came with the K10d?  Is this an adjustable feature? Is this feature better done in-camera when possible? --sgary

Just curious if anyone has any lens designs like the FA* 24 f/2 that suffer from poor border resultion / PF on a conventional digital bodies like the K10d or K5 and has also tested them on a K5IIs wihtout the AA filter. Does it make a difference in resolution? Less PF? I have no technical reason to believe this would be the case, but still I'm curious. Matt --... interested in .... photographs? Heh? Know what a mean? Photographs? (He asked him knowingly). Nudge nudge, snap snap, grin grin,...

I am about to sell my K10D and noticed a very tiny chip in one corner of the bottom plate.  Mine is not cracked as some of you had experienced and it is obvious the weather sealing is still unaffected, but if that plate is still available and cheap enough I'll fix it.  I discovered the issue after Pentax USA closed today.  I'm just curious if anyone were able to get one recently.   Thanks,   Hcoley

Hello, I'm going to buy a compact camera for travelling. My main requirements are: Quality photosGood video recordingShallow depth of field (good bokeh)Cheaper than Sony RX100 (this is just a price indicator, RX100 is "ineligible" due to the optical/digital zoom transition issue during video recording) My current candidates are Lumix LX-7, Canon G15, Olympus XZ-2, Pentax MX-1 (and perhaps Nikon P7700, but I prefer shorter lens, or Nikon P330, but given the price tag I'm not convinced it could...

Hi Everyone, I've been shooting with a k10d for around 5 years (i read the forums here, but don't post much) and  I've recently realized that I'll need a video camera for filming some causal family videos.the budget for this is somewhat limited, and I debating getting a descent consumer video camera vs upgrading to a k30 (in hopes that it will be usable for video). I wold love to upgrade, but I can't really justify this to myself unless this covers the video front as well (I would love the...

Hi,I used to be a keen amateur photographer, took a lot of pictures with my Pentax K10D. I had a 50mm f/1.4, a Sigma EX 100-300mm F/4.0, a Sigma EX 18-50mm f/2.8 DC standard zoom I bought together with the K10D. I became a pentaxoid before the digital era and was really p!ssed about the APS-C format, which, as I felt, robbed me of wide angles... (I know I'm overdramatising.) Eventually I became tired of the size and weight of the K10D and almost stopped using it...My goal is to have a...

I have had my K10D for a few years now and it had been working very well.  I decided to update to the most recent firmware.  Since that update the camera no longer takes clear images.  I must reiterate that it worked properly before the update.  I can't help but come to the conclusion that the firmware has created this problem.  Has anyone else had this happen? The Pentax "Customer Service" was of no use.  They want me to send it to them and get an estimate to pay them for a problem they have...

I'm still using my old K10D and love shooting landscapes. I use mostly the da 16-45 lens and it has served me well but occasionally misses focus  I am wondering if I would be better served getting one of the new cameras that have focus peaking and either use older manual lenses or use  existing auto focus lenses in the manual mode for landscapes and use auto focus when I really need a quicker focus... These old eyes can't manually focus as well any more lol...Thanks Bob

I've read than transferring photos directly from my K 10 D to my Nexus tablet is possible if my K10 D supports media transfer protocal or MTP. The problem is I can't find if my K10D supports this or not????
