Fantastic camera despite a few years under its belt, Ive only had this camera for past few months to use for pro - semi pro photography and it really does a superb job! I've used Nikon DSLR's with 14mp and telephoto lens and the details unbeleivably better on the old Pentax, I couldn't beleive this! but it's true, PENTAX ARE UNDER-RATED! MAYBE because they don't advertise on tv 50- times a day! I use a tamron 70mm-300m lens on this camera and it seems very well suited. Problems: a little slow ...

All-around excellent SLR camera. Great value at the moment too for those in the market for a new camera. Pentax makes some nice glass, including the pancake primes, which I use with the K100D. Clear view through the viewfinder, which is large and bright for a pentamirror. Good ISO performance. Relatively compact. Problems: Nope.

DerekI,,,. You need to actually test the camera before you talk about it. No one here needs your unprofessional opinion. K100D is a phenomenal camera and it can challenge ANY camera in its price range. You are more than welcome to come back and post your review when you quit your job at Nikon!!!! Problems: Slightly noisier than its predecessor, although in the boundaries of normal.

After testing all big and not as big names, reading lot of opinions, I put myself into a category of people who would like have a good low light performer (I hate to use flash), have a zoom range 28-300 (35 mm film), have the best quality kit lenses, have shake reduction to help hand holdability - all this for a very affordable price - I"ve found PENTAX K100D to match my demand. I shot Christmas parties, birthday parties, highschool soccer and hockey. Compairing to any other brands what I ...

Now that a fool gave poor marks to this great cam without owning it, I feel I have to give best marks to compensate.

I have rated everything 5.0 for one simple reason: This camera is for the the average Joe and not for a National Geography"s photographer. And for the average Joe, this is the best quality picture producer camera, for the lowest price in the market.- Period. ( I have tried before: Nikon D70, D50, D200, CanonXT,Canon 20D, OlympusE500, E300, Sony A100) All of them are excellent cameras, however to get the same quality picture, you have to spend lot more money, usually for the reason of extra ...

This is my third Pentax dSLR. I have two *istDs bodies, one used heavily and the second purchased as a backup to the first, and sees rare use. I purchased the K100D specifically for the built-in Shake Reduction feature, and it works fantastically! My Ds bodies don't see much use anymore. The pentamirror viewfinder is every bit as bright as the Ds pentaprism. Controls are almost exactly similar to the Ds, so it took no time at all becoming familiar with the buttons. If you don't need the ...

I have owned a lot of film cameras, everything/brand from Brownie Hawkeye through 2.5 SLR film. I started with point and shoot at 2 Mp up to 8MP (C-8080) before migrating to this Excellent DSLR. In my 60 years of photograpy I personnally never had occassion to shot sequentially more than 3-5 shots at one time. Cameras like cars are very personal and we tend to defend our brand loyalty. When you try this camera you will like the feel and the images it produces. If it does not fit your hands ...
