After testing all big and not as big names, reading lot of opinions, I put myself into a category of people who would like have a good low light performer (I hate to use flash), have a zoom range 28-300 (35 mm film), have the best quality kit lenses, have shake reduction to help hand holdability - all this for a very affordable price - I"ve found PENTAX K100D to match my demand. I shot Christmas parties, birthday parties, highschool soccer and hockey. Compairing to any other brands what I ...

Now that a fool gave poor marks to this great cam without owning it, I feel I have to give best marks to compensate.

a horrible camera from a loser . this mount will die soon , without any company saving it like Sony was for KM . this camera is slow and noisy , so buy a Nikon d40. Problems: this brand has no future and needs to die. Hoya will force PEntax to cease its Camera business , or re-sell the Camera division of Pentax ,since the stock holders of Hoya are all angry about the company decsion to buy this dying ,old tech-less camera brand .... And Hoya announced selling the Camera divison of Pentax to ...

I use this camera for about 2 months and I´m very happy with it. Images are crisp and clear - who needs tons of pixels? The image stabilisation works very well even at 500mm (I use an old Beroflex lens). I recommend to buy a good lens for this camera - the kit lens isn´t so god, I prefer the 16-45mm SMC DA. JPEG output is good, but I use RAW for better control over the results. Build quality is solid but the cover for batterys seems to be a bit loose. I like the fact that this camera only ...

I have rated everything 5.0 for one simple reason: This camera is for the the average Joe and not for a National Geography"s photographer. And for the average Joe, this is the best quality picture producer camera, for the lowest price in the market.- Period. ( I have tried before: Nikon D70, D50, D200, CanonXT,Canon 20D, OlympusE500, E300, Sony A100) All of them are excellent cameras, however to get the same quality picture, you have to spend lot more money, usually for the reason of extra ...

This is my first DigitalSLR, and I have previously used a swag of mid-range digitals - including an OlympusC2100UZ. Which brings me to Shake Reduction - The Pentax shake reduction seems reasonably effective, but I'm quite sure it's not as capable as the lense stabilizer on my olympusC2100. I took a bunch of shots in poor but adequate light and all my Pentax shots were fuzzy, where the Olympus had little problem. The main problem here, probably, is that the Pentax has a shutter button which ...
