I bought mine a week ago. To say that I'm happy with it is an understatement. It is a solidly built camera with a plethora of features and support for legacy lenses. The lens support, maximum ISO, and in-body image stabilization were the most important deciding factors once reviews showed that image quality was in the same range. Previous Pentax experience has led to feel that the product is dependable. I upgraded from a Sony H2 which needed repair at 4000 shots (under a year), and my ...

Had this Pentax for a few weeks now, changed from a Nikon D200 to a 6 Megapixel Pentax! (Why you may ask ,see reasons later) The picture quality is Excellent, the noise levels from the CCD amps are very low as the ISO goes up! Takes a bit of time getting used to the controls after the nikon but am now mastering it! Biggest bonus for me though was I can use my old Pentax lenses I had for my MX and Me-Super, including the Super Takumar's(Fantastic sharp primes)Switch to manual mode, look ...

I've had the K100D for 5 months now. It's both a delight and a challenge to use, it can really deliver but it helps to know your way round a couple of wrinkles mainly to do with white balance. Daylight or indoor natural light it's superb, I use the Cloudy WB setting for most shots indoors, even with flash, and Daylight setting or AWB for bright outdoor light, but with artificial lighting the easiest way to get nice results is to use RAW and use the free version of Silkypix RAW converter to ...

I studied the DSLR offerings long and hard before making my choice, and I must say that I have nailed it! I can't imagine getting more for your money in a DSLR. The SR really works, as I have produced a clear shot at .5 sec. I really like the colors produced by the camera, and the various settings allow you to tweak things perfectly. Owning a Pentax ME Super prepared me for the quality and user friendlyness of this camera. The ability to use my old K mount lenses is a bonus, as I would ...

It's my First DSLR. Workmanship was great on the K100D. Ease of use, SR, FAST Autofocus. Great variety of LENS, Problems: No Raw Jpeg. Some features are hidden in the menu. Other that nothing.

My first DSLR after using two digicams for about 4 years. Very pleased with the pictures - regularly exceeds my expectations. Shake Reduction is an essential feature. iso 3200 is very much usable. With this camera, no situation is beyond the reach. The digicams were highly restricted when the light falls - no problem with the K100. An excellent camera. Problems: I gave 4.5 points to the Ease of Use mainly due to the shortfall in the White Balance. You need to be really aware of what WB ...

Great camera. I've used a couple of digital compacts (and enjoyed them), but this is my first DSLR, having started out with a Chinon CE4 SLR which had a PK fit in the 80s. So I was drawn to Pentax as I have a few ancient lenses that I can use again with the K100D. Having used it over the last 3 months I'm delighted with my choice - the camera is great, love the combination of shake reduction and strong high ISO performance to allow low light photos I didn't imagine were possible before. Batt ...

DerekI,,,. You need to actually test the camera before you talk about it. No one here needs your unprofessional opinion. K100D is a phenomenal camera and it can challenge ANY camera in its price range. You are more than welcome to come back and post your review when you quit your job at Nikon!!!! Problems: Slightly noisier than its predecessor, although in the boundaries of normal.
