Got the K100D+kit lens for under $400 AR. Wanted a "disposable" SLR to take where I don't want to take my Canon 30D plus expensive lenses. Also wanted something I can leave in the car without getting anxious. The camera and lens hasn't disappointed! Sure, it would be nice if the kit lens was longer, but it's very sharp and well-built. The biggest surprise, however, was the SR (shake reduction) feature. I was getting most of my shots at 1/8 or 1/10 sec. in focus. That seems implausible ...

SR, Spot meter, 11-pt auto-focus w/ 9 cross-type, AA batteries While the K100D is said to be an entry-level DSLR, the present of a spot meter, a 11-point auto-focus system, and the use of AA batteries makes it stand out from the rest of the competitions. With the Shake-Reduction function, I can consistently get clear shots at 1/8s, 18mm focal length. My longest clear exposure with SR is 0.5s at 18mm. However, I had to hold my breath in order to do that. I could do better if the 2sec timer did ...

I bought this camera because of it's very good reviews and it's bargain price. Image quality is very good plus a very useful shake reduction feature. Problems: None

Bargain in the UK! This is my 4th Pentax digital SLR (DS, K110D, K10D- and still have the last 2). At the price point its currently going for in the Uk, I'd snap one up sharpish before the "K100D Super" comes into stock. If you are debating between this and the Nikon D40, the D40 is possibly nicer to look at, has more controls on the exterior, has a quieter shutter, BUT, has no anti-shake mechanism, has a smaller viewfinder and is limited on lens compatability. The K100D will accept ALL K ...

This camera is well constructed and easy to use with a wide range of exisiting Pentax lenses to choose from. (I got one on e-bay to go with the kit lens) Good choice of exposure modes, I use Shutter priority mostly. It compares well with my trusty old AE-1! Multi-point autofocus seems very accurate and the shake reduction works giving excellent low light picture taking capability with usable high ISO settings. I use rechargable NiMH's and alkalines for emergency use and am getting 300-400 ...

All-around excellent SLR camera. Great value at the moment too for those in the market for a new camera. Pentax makes some nice glass, including the pancake primes, which I use with the K100D. Clear view through the viewfinder, which is large and bright for a pentamirror. Good ISO performance. Relatively compact. Problems: Nope.

After using other manufacturers cameras, mostly Canon EOS 350 and 400D and some Nikons, I am most pleased to report that this camera has surpassed my expectations. Image quality is first rate and most of the features are easy to use. It seems much better built than the Canons and looks as though it will take a few knocks. It feels like a real SLR and not an item of consumer electronics with a lens bolted to the front. I have has no problems at all with the focusing when taking photos of kids ...

I have dust entering the LCD monitor and also on the sensor even when I am using just one lens ... so no lens changes. I sent my unit for warranty repair. Did anyone else have the same dust problem? Other than that, this is a great camera. Problems: White balance is very poor for indoors. Any firmware update to fix this?

Ive bought 3 of these. One refurb from a shop online, it was broke, had black dots on screen, possibly dust. sent it back. I then went and bought a new one from jessops, guess what? It had a black blob on all images. So they replaced it easily enough. Guess what? The new camera has a new black line across the top this time with another below. Ive bought this camera 3 times that means in the uk, twice new and from 2 different places across the country. I would seriously beware of this camera ...

This is my frrst Digital SLR. I had a Canon EOS (forgot what model) that I bought from ebay to try and practice. It was a film version and drove me mad, because any errors that you made, you paid for it (ie price of film and development) so I decided to go for a DSLR. I chose this DSLR because of its very cheap price. I didnt expect much from the camera. I was close not buying it, as I was sure that anything this cheap wasnt worth it. I was going to save money and buy a more expensive camera ...
