I have a Vivitar Series 1 28 mm f1.9 lens that I have used on my ist DL and K-01 bodies. The lens works as far as I can tell quite well but the focus ring tightens up and turns a little harder at the short range end of the focus range.  It focuses quite close and that range that gets little use but I have taken photographs in the focus tightening area and do not see any problems in the results.  Would this be a concern to any of you or is there some testing I could do to find out if it is a...

I would like to know what people prefer to use as a portrait lens.  I do not know much about portraits but usually take the pictures at family get togethers.  I have heard that 85 mm is a good length and that a short telephoto lens has the effect of flattening the face which may be completely wrong.  Also there is a conversion for digital cameras due to sensor size being smaller than equivalent film but it seems to me it would result in a crop out of the center so an 85 mm is still an 85 mm...

I would like to replace my 18-55 DA AL kit lens which is no longer working and would like to know how the DA AL II compares.  I will be using it on my K-01.  I think the later II model focuses closer but do not know what other differences there are.  At some point I would also like to get the Pentax 55-300 and have read some posts favoring the original DA ED over DAL ED because of the build quality.  Are these lenses optically equivalent and are there other considerations?

Hey all, I've been playing around with a Sony RX100, and aren't entirely happy with it. There are never any BAD photos but in general the photos don't seem to be totally sharp unless they are close distance (in the same room for example). I took some photos at the beach and the camera failed to capture the scene well (which I'm not saying isn't partly my fault). I'm no professional or anything!I'm wondering how much a SMALL Mirrorless camera would be in terms of image quality up from the...

Hey!   Can anyone recommend an APS-C sized mirrorless camera?  I'd like to stay under $500 for the camera + lens, but might go higher if it's really worth it.   I've been shooting with an E-PL1 for about a year now, and while I've been happy with it for the most part, I think I would benefit from going to a larger sensor.  I mostly would want a standard AF zoom lens, and possibly a longer AF zoom as well.  I have several legacy lenses that I would want to use as well (FD 28mm 2.8, FD 50mm...

Hi, i'm interested in the K-01 but it's becoming harder to find them in the UK to compare prices. So i'm wondering if £340 with the 40mm pancake lens is a good deal?   Thanks.

Unfortunatelly the autofocus of my K-O1 is not working with my Sigma HSM 50/1.4 lens. The autofocus is running back and forth without finding the object. I`m wondering if anybody else is having the same issue. Any solution? Thanks for the feedback!

Hi all....I recently acquired a Pentax K-01 and like it very much....but I cannot get it to set ISO 100. I have followed the directions concerning how to do this in the menu....but no matter whether I choose "on" of "off", I still can't get it to set to 100ISO....anythoughts anyone? Thanks, Bob --the heart knows what the mind cannot.....

For those that bought a K-01 with the XS pancake, or somehow acquired the lens, I am wondering how you find the lens to be. Mine seems to have pretty severe CA and I wonder if there is something wrong with my copy, or is this just something that people live with because the lens is so small and convenient (it's almost nothing, like 2 lens caps back to back). Reviews mention CA but I wonder if this is the expected amount. By the way, the in-camera CA correction seems to make no difference to...

The K-01 is for sale now at just £240. I'm planning to get one with the FA*24mm along with an M 100mm as my backup body. How well does the focus peaking work? I'd like to use it as a backup body while shooting landscapes/architecture--Angad S. aka goosetaLBA and CBA haunt me.angadsrin.zenfolio.comK5iis with DA 17-70/4, 35/2.4, M 50/1.7, Tamron 70-200/2.8, Sigma 70/2.8 macroSigma DP1 MERRILL WOOHOOIsold the sony stuff!
