Wonder if anyone here can advise me ?  What i'm looking for is a setting on my K-01 with wich i can take pictures using kind of a 'soft-filter' (until i get my softlens... hopefully). On my K20, i know how-to, but thats after taking the shot. Is there any way to set it for all shots so i don't have to process my pics afterwards. Just ... soft filter. Thanks in advance ... :-) --;-) rgrds. Henk (K-01, K20D&DBG-2, GF2+14042X & LBA).

Am I wrong or does the k-01, k-500, k-30, k-50, k-5, k-511 and k-511s all share the same sensor? If so, not sure if it's good or bad, but they sure can buy them in bulk, maybe then even at a savings.

I have a K-01 and am interested in buying a standard zoom for it.  I have pretty much narrowed my decision down to getting a new version Tamron 16-50 and have been comparing prices at Amazon with less expensive lenses from sellers in Japan which are sold as new with no lens hood, also Ebay has some sellers in the low $300 range, and finally KEH has some used lenses at reasonable prices.  I have bought lenses from all three places and am more comfortable with KEH.  I should probably be more...

Pentax K-01: FA31/1.8  Limited lens does not focus. Green A on the lens aligned with the red line on the lens. Custom Menu 3/16 Using Aperture Ring set to Enable. Lens makes an effort to focus, but remains unfocused. Cannot fire the shutter.  Any advice, please. --babujr

I've been in the market for a Speed Light for a while now, as I have never owned one, but I've heard that getting your flash off your camera can be on the best things you can do to improve the quality of your images. Currently I shoot with an Olympus m43 epl-1 (w/ either the Panasonic 20mm or the Oly 45mm) and a Pentax K-01 (usually using the Pentax 18-55 WR zoom or a manual-focus 50mm). Don't laugh; I'm on a small budget, and these cameras have proved to be quite capable. I have the...

Yesterday my 8GB card with a few decent images from Norton Simon Museum, Pasadena, CA failed. I use exclusively SanDisk Extreem III cards and not really familiar with this thing. I was shooting K-01. Most likely the battery got out of juice with no warning, while camera was writing an image to the card. Now both K-01 and K-5 give a card reading error message and the card is not visible on computer. There are many card restorations software available online, but a few what I tried do not see...

I used to be a very enthusiastic film photographer in the 80s and 90s when I was a teenager. My father and I used to go on many trips together and we both had our SLRs in hand. Mine was a Ricoh XR-M and he had a Pentax ME-Super. Fast forward to the present day and I have grown away from big complex cameras and moved toward simple point-n-shoot units. Right now I have a Fuji F550EXR and it works well enough I suppose. There's ample manual capability that I can make up for most strange color...

I have a Vivitar Series 1 28 mm f1.9 lens that I have used on my ist DL and K-01 bodies. The lens works as far as I can tell quite well but the focus ring tightens up and turns a little harder at the short range end of the focus range.  It focuses quite close and that range that gets little use but I have taken photographs in the focus tightening area and do not see any problems in the results.  Would this be a concern to any of you or is there some testing I could do to find out if it is a...

I would like to know what people prefer to use as a portrait lens.  I do not know much about portraits but usually take the pictures at family get togethers.  I have heard that 85 mm is a good length and that a short telephoto lens has the effect of flattening the face which may be completely wrong.  Also there is a conversion for digital cameras due to sensor size being smaller than equivalent film but it seems to me it would result in a crop out of the center so an 85 mm is still an 85 mm...

I would like to replace my 18-55 DA AL kit lens which is no longer working and would like to know how the DA AL II compares.  I will be using it on my K-01.  I think the later II model focuses closer but do not know what other differences there are.  At some point I would also like to get the Pentax 55-300 and have read some posts favoring the original DA ED over DAL ED because of the build quality.  Are these lenses optically equivalent and are there other considerations?
