I've had mine for about a year now, and I'm glad I bought when I did -- even though it's come down in price a fair bit, I've had a whole heap of use out of it. Just an explanation of my ratings: - construction: good for a modern camera, better than most of the competition in the price range, definitely better than the equivalent Canons. - features: couldn't really ask for more, but I guess it could have a few more things I can't think of. - image quality: what you make of it really -- depends ...

I'am using it with both old manual lenses and new AF lenses. It is just great that You can use old ones and pictures sometimes looks even better that with AF. I like the size of the camera, material of the camera fells good in hand. Ergonomics seems to be made for me, a few options are hidden in menu but You can get used to it after while which makes it easy to use. Focusing during nice day is very fast, but in dim conditions it's sometimes to slow - maybe with better AF lenses problem will ...

Very happy with it. Now that the 2.0 Firmware is available, the DS has the same features as the DS2. AF-C is added to the other user controlled modes, as well as better Auto ISO settings. The only difference being the LCD screen is 2 inches on the DS and 2.5 on the DS2. In camera JPG processing is quite good with excellent results. In camera JPG can be tweaked in the P, Tv, Av and M modes. The Picture modes tweak the JPG processing according to the intended purpose of the Picture modes, and ...

Excellent Prosumer DSLR. Robust. Very well built. Small but easy to hold. Clear buttons Menus clear Fn toggle enables ISO/ white Balance/ Bracketing/ Shutter delay etc Excellent reults in JPEG and especially in RAW Excellent Viewfinder VERY CLEAR Good LCD Smaller choice of DA Lenses... but fits almost all old Pentax Lenses Problems: None. Occasional underexposure. This however is infinitiely easier to deal with than blow out. it can be spotted on histogram and/or corrected in Photoshop

mr. vanderneut 2 posts down: "please include a...censor in the next future." no, keep it free! ;-) this camera delivers excellent pictures even at high isos (ranging up to 3200!) - just tried it tonight! its easy to use (fn menu) and offers a host of settings for those amongst us who arne't content with the basics (which in the end is a good picture and nothin else). the only DSLR that tempted me in a similar proce range was the konica-minolta 7d /Dynax/maxxum depending on where in the world ...

I am blind to this camera's faults because it's ease of use, amazing image quality, stunning high ISO performance and lens compatibility, to name a few of the great features, completely overshadow them. Problems: None thus far.

Great DSLR for the money. I use this camera extensively for taking portraits. Bright viewfinder, large LCD for viewing shots. Excellent compatibility with vast majority of older Pentax lenses. Problems: Autofocus could be faster in low light situations. Kit lens also a bit slow.

I am a lifelong enthusiast of Pentax. My first camera was a Pentax ES, which I bought in S'pore in 1973. It gave me great pictures until 3 years ago when the electronic system finally gave up. I can now only use it with manual light metering and setting. Then I bought this miracle camera in March of 2005, together with a Pentax 18-55mm DA lens and a quantaray 70-300mm. I use it mostly in semi automatic mode (control the shutter speed) so that I have also control over the diafragm. I ...

Love it! Best money I have spent in years - it just feels like using my film SLR - only better specified! Being able to use my excellent 20 yr manual focus old 50mm f/1.4 SMC-A lense is great - which just goes to show you how this camera is really "backward compatible" as even screw mount lenses work with high functionality (with an adapter naturally). In Australia at least, it is by far and away the best quality value for money dSLR out there. Great high ISO performance. The "poor jpg" ...
