Excellent camera, as if made by photographers for protographers. Pure joy using since very first shot with it. Highly recommend anyone. Problems: None, sensor low pass filter could be further away from the sensor to eliminate dust spots at slower apertures of F/16 or so, but hey, none of them done it except for Sigma DSLR to my knowledge, but I never tested how their dust screen actually performs at slow apertures (if it has any effect at all).

There are far too many good things I could say about the Pentax DL. So let me put it short and sweet. I have used and/or owned the following digital cameras over the years: Fuji MX-2900 Fuji Finepix 4900 Fuji S2 Pro Olympus E10 Nikon Coolpix 885 Nikon Coolpix 5000 Fuji S7000 Nikon D1X Nikon D70 Olympus Verve S The Pentax DL is the only one I consider to be an ABSOLUTE JOY to use. The DL is a camera made for photographers. It's not perfect, but neither is any other camera on the market. At the ...

I normally wouldn't feel right putting straight fives, but if you doubt me spend a day with an Olympus Evolt 500 then with the Pentax DL.If you compare the build quality, ease of use,and ergonamics between them I think you will agree that the Pentax wins hands down!!It takes very good photos..better than I should be able to take.Let go of the megapixle race (6.1 vs 8) from Canon and Olympus and realize that 6.1 is plenty for all but maybe true pro photographers. In addition I get approximately ...

Thoroughly recommended. Originally I wanted to buy the DS2, but couldn't find one. I was nervous at first about buying the 'cheap' version, but I found that the differences (listed in other reviews) were really not very significant, at least for me. The main reasons for buying it were the compactness (the best on the market), the viewfinder (I tried the competition, but with them it was like looking through a tunnel!) and the DA 16-45. I'm delighted with the results, find the DL a wonderful ...

This was my first DSLR and I went through some cameras before buying. And I obtained this as a kit with Pentax 18-55 and 50-200mm plugs which cover most of my needs. As an hobby enthusiast I try to shoot manually as much as I can but the first thing that caught me was the auto mode really does a good job, even in a bit poor light. The colors are good but the default sharpness is a bit shoft, but shooting as RAW, thats easily fixed. It feels good, considering wight, balance and grip, if you ...

What a Great camera! The ist-dl has made going digital as easy as the zx-7 was to going 35mm! AND I can use the same lenses!!! no added expense for new lenses! It is so light weight that really feels comfortable in my hands. I did check a few other dslr's before purchasing (even though I knew what I wanted) but the ist-dl just felt right as soon as I picked it up. I've had it now for a few weeks & it's just a wonderful camera! Pentax has really outdone themselves with this. I really can't ...

I've had this camera for about 2 months now and I'm very happy with it. I've bought some nice lenses which I couldn't be happier with. I was lucky enough to test a lot of different brands etc, but the DL was the most user friendly and piture quaility was as good if not better than the rest. Problems: Nothing bad to say about it for my use.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks now, and "LOVE" it! Well built, easy to use, but I still have a lot to learn. Takes great pictures. One thing that sold me, was the stainless steel body, and steel lens attachment ring. All of the competition in this class are all plastic. I got a good deal on mine, from Dell. Problems: None so far.....

The *ist DL is astounding value for money and has build quality far above the rest of its class. It undercuts the price of the Nikon D50, the KM5D, and the Canon EOS and Rebel by a huge margin. The DL uses the same sensor as the Nikon, and is identical to the *ist DS2 except for using a pentamirror viewfinder in place of pentaprism, less flash-sync modes, and fewer autofocus sensor points. The thing that swung me to the Pentax in the end was the build quality. In the user's hands, it feels ...
