Wow. What a great camera. It just feels right when I'm holding it (especially with the optional grip). People too often make the mistake of comparing this camera to the 300d. I've used the 10d before and the *ist D can definitely hold it's own against it. Sure, you can debate all day about how "x" camera is better because it has this feature and how "y" camera is better because it has that feature, but what it really comes down to is the feature set of the *ist D right for you? This is my first DSLR. I own a Nikon PS 800, which I used for snapshots along with my three Ricoh SLR bodies (2x XR-X and a XR-2s). Changing over to the *ist D from the film bodies was no problem at all. I use the camera mostly in manual mode (only partly due to the lack of the "A" option of 2/3 of my lenses) or in Hyperprogram. I had the chance to test the camera in low temperatures. With NiMH-batteries at -15°C I was able to shoot for about one hour before the batteries died. The camera ...

Excellent camera. Excellent pictures. I have several Pentax lenses (six SMC – M and one SMC – F ) and two flashes ( AF400 T and AF 240 FT ). Everything works together fantastically. If you already have a large investment in the excellent quality Pentax lenses, this is the only logical choice for going into digital photography. People I have shown the pictures to, can’t believe they are digital pictures and I printed them myself. Some people still think I sent them into a processing ...

Wonderful camera: easy to use (my father, who had never handled a Pentax before - let alone a DSLR, figured out all the commands without reading the manual and started shooting right away), handles heavenly, looks sweet and never lets you down. Oh and btw, it makes great pictures... Problems: Yes ! It doesn't play music, it doesn't wake me up in the morning and I can't watch my DVDs on it... Now, seriously, I haven't encountered any major problems. I must reckon the CF compartment is a little ...

I’m a Pentax user from the mid-eighties (MWF – 40ish) and I suppose that I’d be considered a mild Pentax bigot. I’m not a pro, but I’ve owned a K1k and still have my MeSup and MG. When I traveled to Japan in the eighties, I sought out places in Tokyo – Akihabra, for genuine Pentax accessories that you couldn’t get in the states. I have always loved photography and Pentax cameras. The problem that I faced was how much things started to cost, especially the film and developing. Slowly I moved ...

This is just a sweet little camera. I bought it for a travel dSLR, planning to leave my 10D at home for "serious" work. Well, I haven't put the *ist down yet, and I'm gearing up to sell my 10D. Problems: Nothing the least bit serious. No "gotchas" to worry about on this camera.
