I have been using this camera for 6 months. Three days after I bought it, I friend of mine let it fell down from a 1,5 meters high. As the camera was switched on before falling (the lenses were open), I thought this would be the end of my brand new camera! For my surprise, after switching off and on, the camera restarted as if nothing had happened! It got only a scratch near the battery compartment. This demonstrated that besides its fragile appearance, this is a quite robust camera. What I ...

I am very happy with this little camera. It is customizable, I have it set up to let me influence EV and WB at a touch, also a custom mode for saving favourite settings. Picture quality is more than acceptable for a camera small enough to slip in your shirt pocket. It has the beautiful textured body, which puts the looks of the S7 to shame (mine is Indigo Blue, just lovely). Also a lot of fun to use For me it comes Highly Recommended as it is well fit for purpose. Problems: Shot to shot is a ...

What a great camera! I owned an Optio S (3MP) and gave that to a family member and bought this gem. It is small and compact and takes great images! Yes, the autofocus may require a recomposure to get the pix (the focus brackets turn green with a locked focus). The lens at wide open aperture is a little soft in the corners but you can compensate for this by either zooming out the lens or set the "mode" on landscape which uses a smaller f/stop. Softness disappears at f/4.3 or smaller- ...

I own or have owned five digital cameras. My first one was an early Pentax EI 100 that was subsequently given to my daughter to take photos of our grandchildren. It has operated without a hitch for more than five years. I still own and use (on rare occasion) an early Spotmatic 35mm camera. This camera is about 40 years old, one cleaning about five years ago is the total maintenance. With such experience with Pentax products, I purchased this S5i, anticipating continued satisfaction. Ease ...

Easy, smallest most accurate, high quality, a joy to use. After owning many different brands of small digital cameras, I loved the Optio S and the S4i, now the best the Optio S-5i along with two Pentax *ist-D SLR type cameras. This is the easiest and most compact 5 MP camera capable of making 8x11 prints and even larger. Great color images with a full list of features on this little gem. Highly recommend. Problems: Not one problem,

Got because I was finding my Canon S45 too bulky for carrying around/ casual use. Initially I thought I would find the lack of manual controls frustrating, but in fact the available controls are fine - the range of scene modes is huge. The live histogram is great to have. The camera's fast, and I haven't had any focusing problems. The flash is a bit weak. I chose this model over the later introductions because I wanted the optical viewfinder - helps with slow shutter speeds (you can stabilise the

My first acquaintance with this little gem was during a Caribbean cruise where I was shooting with a Leica M. THe folkas on the boat were promoting it with a couple of freebies (leather case and 256 SD card) I was so amazed by it that I got one on the next stop at St. Thomas and got an even better deal with an extra battery, a 512 card, instead of 256 and a useless mini tripod. In actual use, it's extremely easy to use. Actually very intuitive. I had mastered most of the features after only ...

Overall: Easy to use and well built; generally a fine camera. Start time (boot up) much improved from previous Pentax Optios. LCD real estate is just right. I use the rechargeable batteries (AA), and recommend strongest power batteries available. Actually recommend Pentax's battery pack versions as I've had them in the past and they last long and are convenient.Image quality is not quite what I expected. Colors, sharpness suffer a bit. Internal lighting photos are not quite as sharp as ...

My daughter got one of these for a birthday present. I liked it so much that I got one for my wife. I'm just about ready to go out and get one for myself. It is a great little point & shoot camera. Videos are a nice feature. I've been a "Pentax man" for 30 years. Currently have two MX bodies, a K1000 body, and a *istDs digital. They are great little cameras, but for easy snapshots, it is hard to beat this little baby, (emphasis on "little"). June 2005 update: Got one of these for my ...
