The batteries are often drained and the camera can't be used. Otherwise, the S50 is compact and straightforward to use. Problems: I can only take 6 to 50 photos before the batteries are drained. Often I turn it on and miss a shot because the batteries, which were OK before, are now depleted. I will replace the S50 since I can't count on it being ready-to-use.

Very dissapointing result here. The average output from this camera is well below par. It's auto-focus is hit-and-miss and the auto exposure unreliable. In a side by side comparison with a Nikon coolpix 4200 it's results are dismal. The better pictures remain wooly and desaturated, lacking sparkle and clarity especially when compared directly with the Nikon.
