After using it for 1 month, I had to upgrade to a Canon S50. The image quality is not good at all compared to other 4 MP cameras in the market. Can produce good results under good lighting. Too much noise.. Forget it! (Note I own or owned Kodak DC 50, 120, DC4800, 4900, Nikon CP900, Pentax 430, Minolta D7, Canon S50, and Fuji S2 pro, so I think I can compare a lot of things between cameras) This one was very dissappointing. Problems: The shutter over the lens broken in a week in my pocket. So ...

I had this camera for 2 months. The size and build quality attracted me. It is indeed, very well made. But the thing took awful pictures. My old Casio QV2000 took better picturs and that was just a 2.1MB resolution. Many pictures were out of focus and full of noise, Performed badly in the dark with the poor autofocus and over compensating flash. I dont know why it makes such big file pitcures, 4MB takes ages to write onto disk making large delay in next photo. After several months, could not ...

I have to agree with a couple of other reviewers who pointed out that if one reads the manual, you will be blessed with better than average results. After about 25 hours of use, I recommend that the white balance be set to the appropriate mode for the lighting conditions rather than AWB and that you set the ISO to 100, these two adjustments can make a big difference. Personally, I haven't found the startup or zoom to be particularly slow. The steel construction is superior to any of its ...

I own the camera for several month. I am very dissepointed with the picture qwality. There are many focusing and light metering problems. Taking a picture in a room with a bright window in anny angle to the camera is a unpossible task: No compensation, verry poor flash compensation poor colors. Outside a little better but far from the minimum I expected. Problems: PIcture quality. Focusing. A VERY DISSAPOINTING CAMERA DO NOT BUY!!!!

Very solid and comfotable compact. Probably a little heavy due to the stainless steel construction, but it has bounced on concrete a few times without problem. I tend to be a little hard on cameras, but it has been fine, and delivered solid shots that give excellent A4 size prints. Problems: I had difficulties getting a clean focus until I realised that focus indicator in the middle of the view finder was showing red almost all the time. I changed the focus to be more centre weighted, and ...

Fantastic little camera - especially if you read the manual. There are lots of features, white balance, shutter speed, F stops, etc to make pics come out much better. There are also digital filters that look great. I also love the short video function. Fantastic camera. Problems: Battery doesnt take long to run out of power - especially if you use the screen.

I bought it yesterday, and I'm taking it back today. Extremely poor image quality. My little Canon Elph (2.1 mp) blows it away as far as color (inside) and clarity. I'm not even waiting to try it outside. I also don't like the several steps to show all the pictures on your PC, where as the Canon Zoombrowzer program shows all your pictures as soon as the camera is plugged in. Also, the large size of the JPEG files is annoying. I could deal with all these problems because it is such a compact ...

Solid well built and easy to use P&S camera. Image quality is top rate and you can use this with out reference to the manual. Cons are that I have problems autofocusing in dim interiors and the optical viewfinder shows only about 70% of the image at the wide end but quite accurate at the long end. But then, I am used to a top of the line SLR which has a much more accurate viewfinder and is able to focus at very low EV's. Problems: No problems ...everything works as it should except for ...

I was very surprised at the poor image quality that this camera produces. It just goes to show that 4.0MM pixels means nothing. I have a Sony with only 1.3MM pixels, and it shoots better quality pictures! This would be a great camera except for this very bad result.

Having recently lost my Kodak DX3900 I wanted to upgrade to a camera with more user control (manual focus, aperture priority, shutter priority). The Pentax Optio 430RS packs a lot of features in a very small package, but the resulting pictures are not up to snuff. This camera pays lip service to features such as "manual-focus" and even "macro capability". The flash, even with appropriate white balance, overwhelms the detector. This camera is a decent point and shoot but at this price ...
