Overall, brilliant! My first digital, and first camera in years. (My Yashica SLR and its entire kit was stolen in '94.) A compact and portable, carry-everywhere camera. Images are sharp and clear, including moving shots. The macro mode is outstanding. The powerful flash provides good illumination, albeit sometimes a bit strong for close-ups. A fair degree of manual control is available; the white balance modes are versatile and so is the exposure compensation. The ability to force the flash ...

Have just upgraded from the Optio 230. Am impressed with the normal photo quality. Have just finished back packing through Vietnam with this unit. Forgot to adjust the settings for high contrast found in Mekong Delta, my own fault. Carried NiMH and spare cards which were put onto CD's throughout the trip. Produced, on average, good as or better photos than my Canon SLR. Miss the TIFF format but still have a Pentax EI 2000 for those photos. Camera did not fault throughout the trip and small ...

I have now the camera for a month and I'm very pleased with it. I have got pictures of 13x18 cm and I can not see that they are from a digital and not from my SLR. If you like in detail at the computer you see some noise but if you let them print as real paper pictures you cannot see it anymore. One good think, that you can use normal AA-batteries or better NIMH - accus which you can buy everywhere. Problems: No problem yet.

The biggest bugbear that makes the camera useless is that you cannoy buy the Lithium twin cell CR V3 battery On Sat 19th Jan I was devasted when I went ot Belmotn Forum and trundeled through 5 major camera stores each with the same comment!!!!!!!!!!!!! I COULD NOT BUY THE BATTERY to operate my camera, they can't get any from the supplier, and one even said ' We were very busy over Christmas and we sold them all' .That AINT MUCH CONSOLATION when you have just spent $800.00 buying the thing ...

I was looking for a small compact camera that I will carry about with me all the time. I have a Fuji 602Zoom as my main digital camera which can be a bit big to carry ALL the time! It is easy so to use, I can do some level of creative things with this and my wife can 'point and shoot'. It ifts my criteria perfectly. I rated it lower on features because you can't control the shutter speed manually which is the only drawback. I can slip it into my pocket and take very good quality images (look ...

My disappointment in this camera was unfortunately very high. When taking pics in a well lit room, with the correct mode, I found extreme noise in the pic. I usually borrow my mum's Canon Powershot A40, and when compared to the pics taken with the Pentax, the difference is extreme! The reason I chose the Pentax was the low price for an extra megapixel. The Canon is only a 2 megapixel. Now I understand why they are the same price. The Canon shots, taken under any circumstances are far ...

I searched many cameras before this one, the choice was difficult because of the huge amount of digital cameras. Now I can say that the choice was right and I have not had any problems so far. Images are bright, full coloured and sharp with a little amount of noise. The price was ONLY 338EUR!!! I uploaded some example images to my website, you can decide the image quality yourself, http://www.jyu.fi/~hutmat Sorry about the image size, I had to resize them a little bit smaller...I can post the ...

First digital camera. So far, I'm very impressed with it. I've taken closeups of flowers etc and the clarity/colour is superb. I'm glad that I got a 64mb card free though! Very complete package-so far, excellent choice.

Purchased this camera as a point-and-shoot camera, as well as a camera to obtain high-quality photos for my instructional images (I'm a geology professor). Specifically I wanted excellent picture quality, good low-light capabilities (for inside caves), portability, close macro, manual focus, and the ability to manage exposure/white balance. I was also intrigued by the 3D features, as I thought I could use it to make stereogram images of rock/mineral specimens and fossils for teaching ...
