I used to be a pro 20 years ago. Good camera at half price, but not worth the orrigional RRP of £700. Focusing is no problem if you use P setting and spot focusing. Good quality images with low noice need ISO rating of 50 or 25, but ISO of 100 works fine 95% of the time. The green setting is brilliant for my wife who knows next to nothing about cameras, while offering me the versitility of setting evertyhing on manual. Nice touch putting the hot shoe in. Shame about the so called ...

For best focusing, try (P) setting, spot AF focus with centre weighted metering,HP photo software will then sharpen up your images,my results have greatly improved using these settings. Problems: As a former 35mm die hard this camera is excellent as long as you keep away from auto setting,e-mail me for any further help. ( bspence26@aol.com)

Excellent features, costs now (Feb 2002) at give away prices. Feels like a traditional SLR and one of the few with TTL optical view finder. Images a bit soft, but easily cured in paint Sop Pro. Many nice features, good battery life from lithium. Problems: Not really any problems, but wish I could find a source for spare lithium battery.

bought the camera two weeks ago(in the netherlands) I was used to the pentax Z20, wich is much more professional. With the EI 2000 everything goes slower. after getting used to that, the camera is lovely to handle picture quality is very good Problems: no problems

This is an excellent camera. You can take some really pro-looking shots with it. And it lookings f***ing cool too. The only down-side, is that there's no movie mode. But its a camera, not a camcorder; and it does its job excellently. Problems: *NONE*

I bought the Pentax ei-2000 2 weeks ago - here in Germany now for 888 DM (should be $ 400). Generally pleased with the results of this camera. Not the best digital SLR camera - but think of the price (you can get get better digital SLR cameras - but for more than $ 1000) The macro function is very good. A real SLR digital - very cheap for a digital SLR camera!! Comparing the price and the quality - it´s the best SLR digital camera you can get for your money. Problems: untill now no problems

I acquired this model recently and was overjoyed with the camera itself, at last, a real SLR digital, big and beefy and a doddle to use. BUT that image quality; not up to standard. I ran a test with an Epson 850Z (2MEG) and the Epson BLEW the Pentax out of the water - NO CONTEST. A real pity. It needs a proper manual focus ring. Problems: I suspect it is fussy about storage cards. Sometimes does not want to work with other makes.

I have only owned the camera for a few weeks but am very impressed. It feels like an standard SLR and the picture quality is very good. It is now retailing at £350 which I think makes it stand head and shoulders above the competition. Only niggle is the industrial sounding grind when you operate zoom. Problems: None to date
