I've had about four Nikons if I remember correctly, but always they are a pain to cart around and as has already been said, 'the best camera is the one you carry with you'. I've never found carrying the GX1 to be a chore, although I usually only have one lens with me to save detaching and attaching with the attendant dust danger. I purchased three lenses plus the kit zoom. The kit zoom is passable but not as sharp as the three prime lenses (25mm, 20mm and 14mm) I mostly shoot with the 14mm ...

I think it really good to bring out and fast to shoot with great quality pic. And the most that I like are good for portable and it's can change lens.

In my view, this is one of the best Lumix G Series bodies to-date. Excellent build, ergonomics and handling in a very small package. Start up, AF and consecutive shooting / bracketing are fast. Good customization for personal shooting style is possible with 2 custom modes accessible via the mode dial and 2 user selectable function buttons (+ another two via touch screen). All important settings are accessible via dedicated buttons and they have finally done away with the useless My Menu and ...

Finally a camera with big(ger) sensor and 3x zoom fitting in my jacket pocket! My Ricoh R4 got at age, especially in low light performance. I aimed for pockatability with moderate zoom lens (sorry Sony), low light performance, built in flash (sorry Sony) and a level gauge to shoot my pictures levelled. Pro's: A whole family of lenses, though a Pana 3/4 means that OIS is required. Lots of buttons, 4 are programmable so often within 2 pushes you get what you want. The buttons are build such ...

I'm a long (20+ years) DSLR user and have had just about every type of model from entry level (Canon Rebels) to pro gear like 1DmkII or D2H, including FF (D700 my absolute favorite cam, ever), and pretty much everything in between, along with the odd Fuji or Minolta DSLR and a lot of Oly bridges. Packing my photo bag for my last vacation in Finland this winter, I realized I was carrying gear like a pro shooter and that had become ridiculous. Also at family reunions and friends parties I ...

I used it for a week with the manual kit lens. Pros : - Image quality is very good in raw mode until ISO 3200 where the noise become very strong. - Ergonomics are very good, especially the handle. - Seems very solid - Beautifull and discret - Small and portable, even with the manual zoom - Autofocus is very, very fast, really cool. - Micro 4/3 has lots of lenses ... Cons - ... But you have to be ready to invest on a second line of lenses when you already have a SLR - Base JPG are very bad ...

Purchased because even though I own a couple of DSLRs I constantly found the adage "The best camera you own is the one you carry" coming back to haunt me. The GX1 is a solid little number that is small enough to fit in a bag effortlessly and solid enough to not require a case when you do so. Coupled with a f1.7 20mm prime lens this is a highly responsive camera that can get a first (auto-focused) shot of in around a second. It's simply superlative at low light compared to other small form ...
