I had just about settled on getting the Sony Cybershot HX200V when I saw notes on here raving about the RX100 which is a lot more expensive.  Then I found out the newest model up from the HX200V has come out which is the HX300.  Now I've read a few negative reviews about the newer model, one that said it was "problematic."  I'm an amateur photographer who's constantly learning and wanting a newer camera to learn on.  I do have the Sony Alpha A57 and two lens but sometimes prefer a smaller...

Looking for a wireless shutter release for my FZ150.  No need for delays, intervalometer, or timers -- just a small. reliable, low cost shutter release. Any suggestions? --GerryTake a look at my photography at:gerryp123.zenfolio.com

Hi all,I was wondering whether there has been any official word from Panasonic or any kind of reliable inside information as far as a follow-up model in the bridge camera line goes. Can we expect a follow-up model to the Lumix DMC-FZ200 still this year? Are there any details as to the release time and specifications of such a successor? (It might be relevant in this context to know what release cycle Panasonic was on for this camera line before, which most people here probably know much...

I have tried looking on the Panasonic website and gotten nowhere! Is there or has there ever been a way to find out if the firmware on the FZ150 was ever updated?  I know this camera is discontinued but my college-age daughter uses it primarily and recently asked me this question.  Now I know on some brands it's easy to see if the firmware is updated, but navigating the Panny site on an "older" camera is ridiculous at least to me!  Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Hi ppl, so far I've only been using the single (central) focus point for stationary birds on trees, fences or wherever, just to ensure the FZ150 doesn't focus on nearby leaves or twigs. And the focus square would be minimized. I used to do the same thing for BIF, with the expected miserable results, which I didn't understand considering I always shot at 5.5AF. Only very recently did I realise that the bird had to be inside the focus square in order for 5.5AF to work well. But I also hear of...

After thousands of FZ images I still have a question on camera settings. Anyone using the "i-Dynamic" feature? Does it make a difference? How do I activate it (in A mode)?  Seems to be grayed out on menu screen.

I am trying in vain to understand the range of focus numbers on the LCD display.  They don't seem to indicate depth of field, and I'm not sure if/how to use them.  It might say 1 ft to infinity, but that is clearly not the range of focus at the moment, as I can see the blurry background. Can anyone set me straight?  Thanks,Martes

I'm using an FZ150 to shoot some jpeg images (in "RAW + JPG" mode)  for display "in the field" with an "average quality" LCD projector.  I'll be editing these with FastStone on an under-powered laptop.  I'll shoot at 12 MP to preserve the RAW quality for future "at home" editing with LR.  I have a choice as to the jpeg compression (quality) of the capture - Fine (~4.8 MB) or Standard (~3.3 MB).  My assumption is that larger sized Fine compression offers no advantage over Standard in editing...

Hi! I want to upgrade from a simple point-and-shoot camera to a bridge camera (also called superzoom camera). I've found five possible candidates: the Fujifilm Finepix HS 30EXR, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150, the Nikon COOLPIX P510, the Panasonic Lumix FZ38 and the Pentax X-5. I'm here to ask you guys which camera you think would be best for me. What I want to do with the camera: shoot street fashion photography - this means that I would like to have a camera with a lens that has a possible...

I have access to the following cameras - lx7, zs7, and fz150.  I am taking a 3 week trip to Prague, Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg. Primarily, we will be walking around the old town areas during the day and evening (to see night time city scenery by the rivers) and visiting the interiors of cathedrals, churches, and museums. Any advice about the camera or combination of cameras to take and camera settings for inside of churches and night time scenery would be greatly appreciated.
