Been using the minor 4/3 format since my PEN EP3 i finally upgraded to the OMD EM5 MII. Finally i have a camera that is somewhat capable of shooting video. What are some settings you "guys" suggest using.  I am new to shutting video on a SLR / M4/3 format.  In my research i am seeing that some people say use shutter mode and double your frame rate for shutter speed.  Some people say use P mode instead.  I am assuming the closest mode to auto to take video would be P mode something i can just...

Hi everyone. I just bought an old Olympus F280 flash, for the ill-fated OM77AF camera. The flash itself is in good condition and works. It has no problems being triggered on my E-P3 and Pentax Q, but for some reason it simply will not fire on my E-M1. I've already tried the three settings on the back of the flash (super FP, manual, auto) and most of the E-M1 settings too, to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions or some insight that they could share? Thanks in advance. --"Chase the light...

Hi folks, I was looking to upgrade my camera body after using my trusted E-P3 for a few years now. When I acquired it I had little no experience with photography/the camera was given to me, so I didn't have to go through the choice of finding the right camera. This time around I have a bit more of an idea of what I would like to have in a camera, but m43 technology has been developing so quickly and I am feeling rather lost in terms of what to look for/how to get the most value out of the...

I just bought an Olympus m43 17mm f/2.8 for my E-P3 body and it focuses perfectly in both AF and MF but the center part of the lens does not retract into the body when the camera is turned off. Is it supposed to? It sticks out quite a bit otherwise and I bought this lens because it is compact. It can be pushed back in and it extends back out when the camera is turned on. I searched but could not find any mention of this behavior in any reviews or even whether it is supposed to retract. A...

Hello, I currently have the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 and the Olympus 12-40mm 2.8 Pro Zoom for my E-M1, the 20mm sits on my old E-P3 and is rarely used. I used to have the old 50mm f2 macro for my 4/3 cameras and loved it as a portrait lens but sold it some time ago when I moved into m4/3 as it was just too large with the adaptor and super slow. I mainly use the fantastic 12-40mm and wonder if anyone else has the same lens and uses the Olympus 45mm much at all. I cannot see the point of another...

I noticed this stuck red pixel in the exact same spot in all my photos with the kit 14-42 II R. I started using the Pany 20mm f1.7 and the red pixel is disappeared. I recently tried out the 12-40 f2.8 and the dreaded red pixel re-emerged. Anyone have an idea what the problem is? Here's an example, you'll notice it right under the bridge slightly to the left and there's another one close to the bottom left corner that's quite noticeable.

Hi... I currently own an Olympus E-P3, along with Panasonic 14-42, Panasonic 14 prime and Panasonic 45-200 lenses. I primarily use the camera for landscapes and wildlife shots while hiking; very rarely indoors. I wouldn't call myself a serious hobbyist, but I've learned enough to feel comfortable using occasional manual settings for certain situations. So... this summer our family will be doing a tour of various national parks out west. For us, it's sort of a once-in-a-lifetime trip. I'd like...

I had a pixel that was dead on my EP3 and showed only green in most shots with a dark areas. That problem started after a year of use so I lived with it. I recently got an EM1 to replace the EP3 and after two weeks of use I have a red pixel that shows on dark areas. Not exactly the background. But if the area where the pixel in question is very Black the pixel shows red. If the area is white or any number of other colors it shows the proper color. Always in the same place in the frame. Is...

Hi! I have a 9 year old son who shows some interest in photography and videography. Would like to buy a cheap camera for him. Cheap because he will probably break it soon. But tough compacts are too expensive, even old ones, and their photo quality is too bad. I own a full Olympus m4/3 system and I gave him my old Olympus E-P3. It's a very well built camera, it doesn't break if you drop it on asphalt from 4 feet height. But, since it was 3.3 year old it recently stopped working. Shutter...
