My E-30 sometimes turns off and on, off and on.....when I first turn the camera to the "on" position.  Seems to occur after camera has been idle for a period of time.  After the above on and off cycles , the camera seems to be OK.  Time to send to Olympus for repair?  Otherwise I may miss an important shot when first turning the camera on.   Thanks  for any help.    --slowbutsteady

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help. I have an Olympus 300 [mod edit - E-300 or Evolt 300] and have just bought a remote shutter. The attachment doesn't seem to plug in anywhere and I've looked online and found that I need an HLD-3. I can't find one of these anywhere so can I use an HLD-4? Any help or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks

I have on Olympus E-300 which I bought in a bundle with the following lenses: Zuiko Digital 14-45mm (28-90mm) f3.5-5.6 and 40-150mm (80-300mm) f3.5-4.5 lenses I am considering buying an Olympus OM-D E-M5 II - will I be able to use the Zuiko lenses on the new camera body with the same level of functionality I get on the E-3000 ??

I will be boat based whale watching next week and thought it would be a good idea to invest in some spray/rain protection for my kit... I'm intending to take my two E5s with 50-200 and 14-54II lenses.   The aquatic gear appears to be what I need; but although there website lists the NEP-80 eyepiece as compatible with Olympus (and Nikon) they only list  E-3/300/330/410/500/510/520/620 as supported Does anyone know if it will also fit an E5 or E30 (or an EM-1 or EM-5 for that matter)? If anyone...

Hi, I own a handful of travel zooms and a Nikon D3300. I have been spoiled by the Nikon D3300 IQ, which in turn has made me less accepting of the IQ produced by my existing travel zoom/bridge P&S cameras. Consequently, I'm contemplating the purchase of a mirrorless camera. The Olympus PEN E-PL5 currently has my attention. I can get one with a kit lens and U.S. manufacturer warranty for a very good price (about half the cost of the recent E-PL7). The E-PL5 is, of course, discontinued. So my...

The Peleng 8mm/3.5 is a circular fisheye for 35mm format cameras--because of this it should act as a diagonal fisheye on Four Thirds sensors. Before Samyang came on the scene, this lens seemed to be the only reasonably priced alternative to the native 8mm f/3.5 for Four Thirds. But discussion about its performance hasn't been easy to find as of late. It's made in Belarus, and it costs about $250 shipped, so it doesn't have any cost savings over the Samyang fisheyes for MFT or NEX. But...

I've made it through enough forum posts to have found the advice recommending only using the full ISO steps, and I've set ISO STEP to be 1EV (which changed the manual ISO settings available). With the camera in ISO-AUTO, making a slow pan from light to dark, I see the intermediate ISO values in the viewfinder.  Am I correct in assuming that you cannot prevent use of intermediate ISO settings in ISO-AUTO, or have I missed some other control which would also limit the auto settings? This isn't...

I would like to learn whether or not it would help to buy a faster/brighter lens to address what I am about to describe. As to background, I am an enthusiast but by no means a pro. I've owned mostly P&S cameras with the only other DSLR being an Olympus E-300, which I found to be an excellent outdoor/landscape camera. The D3300 is an entirely different animal, however, so I hope to receive feedback: In scene/auto modes under full sun the camera often selects a small aperture paired to a oddly...
