A close friend and fellow photographer invited me on a photo shoot here in the Colorado mountains. One of the things we plan on shooting are nighttime/ stars/ Milky Way images. I've never done this type of photography before and was hoping for some advice from experienced shooters. My main body is my Oly E30 and I plan on using my 14-54mm 2.8 lens ( on my tripod). I also have the 18-180mm/ 70-300mm/ Bigma lenses as well. Just curious what settings to use, and any other advice as well. Thanks...

Hello, I haven't posted here in many years but I recall the incredible amount of knowledge you members had on camera's and lenses and basically built my inventory based on your recommendations. I have been using the Olympus brands since the beginning having (and don't laugh) the E1, E300, e520 and the lenses ranging from the 50-200MM, 50MM, 14-54MM, 11-22MM, converters  and whatever came with the kits. I still use all of them and I am quite happy, use the 14-54 as my walkabout lens, it rarely...

Does anyone have experience focus problem in using e30 with panaleica 25mm f1.4 asph? I used it for around two weeks and can't resolve the front focus even I adjusted the auto focus to +4 and sometimes the object is not correctly focus. When I shoot an object with distance more than 5 meters, the result is back focus. I really need some advice to handle the lens. thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,Im wondering if someone could explain to me the difference im noticing when using bounce flash on my canon 5d with 430exii and my olympus e-3 with fl50r.both cameras are set to aperture priority and ive got them both on set on ttl mode. The 5d sets the shutter speed much lower than e-3, is seems as though the e-3 sets a minimum shutter speed to match the focal length (on my 12-60mm  it ranges from 1/60 wide to 1/125 at the tele end). Im more confused about what the 5d does, the...

I'm planning a move from an Olympus E-3 system to Pentax K5iis. I have a pretty good handle of the pros and cons and what I stand to gain and lose, except for flash. I usually use Cactus 5 triggers with two Olympus flashes in manual mode. (FL-36r and FL-50). Some of these questions may be obvious, but not to me since I've been with Olympus for over a decade. Are the triggers generic? Will they work on Pentax? I think, so but thought I'd ask. Can I still use my Olympus flashes in manual mode?...

Hi, I have a dilemma whether to keep or sell E-3 and buy one of the OM-D's. So my current setup is; E-3, 14-54 mk1, 50-200 mk1, 50mm f2.0 macro. Of all lenses, I like 50-200 best. I need better IQ, I hate banding sometimes even on low ISO on E-3, and most of all low dynamic range of E-3. I was looking at E-M10 as a second camera with Panasonic 14-45 and Panny 20mm 1.8. Second option is selling E-3 and buying E-M1 with adapter for my 4/3's lenses. I don't want to spend too much Money on...

Hello Everyone! This is my first post on the m43 forum. I have posted a bit on the Oly 4/3ds forum. I'm sure this has been asked here more than once, so please forgive me if I am being redundant. My question for all you m43 shooters is, should I switch systems or go m43ds? What is your advice? I mainly shoot landscapes and wildlife, mostly birds. My main body is an E30 and my lenses are the 14-52II mm, 18-180mm, 70-300mm and the Bigma 50-500mm lens. I often use the TC 1.4 on my long leses to...

Hi all, I'm test driving an E-M1 but my main camera is an Olympus E-3. I'm not sure if mirrorless is my main squeeze but it will always be the best sidekick. Since Olympus gives me nowhere to go in DSLRs I've been thinking about a K5ii + Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 as one option.  What would I miss? What would I gain?  I think I'd miss tilt swivel LCD, dual card slots, Oly dust buster, Oly JPG color engine and my Zuiko lenses.  I'd gain better high ISO, DR, slightly smaller body, slightly better DOF...

Does anyone knows how or if it is possible to separate the rec view time of the EVF from the LCD in the EM1? I'll explain: In my E30 if i follow an action using the OVF taking pictures as it happens, i have it configured to display the last picture imediatly after in the LCD during 3s. I want to recriate that configuration on the EM1 but the best i can do is to show the picture on the EVF and the LCD (if i move away from the EVF). My shooting preference is to have the EVF displaying no image...
