I bought a TG-2 as an underwater camera, something relatively cheap that I could take snorkelling or diving. Mainly I didn't want to go to the expense and risk of putting a larger sensor camera and a fancy lens into an underwater housing. My first use of the TG-2 was during a holiday on the Great Barrier Reef. For the price, I'm very happy with how it performed, though there are a few missing features (e.g. raw format) that I would have been happy to pay more for. In the Box In the box you ...

Tough? The LCD is not recessed in any way so any attempt you make to protect it against grit and clumsiness are thwarted as any screenie will catch and peel off the first time you holster it at speed. The silly red ring around the lens fell off the first time the camera was taken out in anger. (All images out of camera, no post processing!) Bought my TG-2 the afternoon before I left for Costa Rica, the rainy season. Dumb, I know, you also should now your gear, but hey... it's a tough cam! I took a calculated risk. The same evening I was fiddling with it to get to know it a bit, and I thought the screen was a bit blue-ish. 'Hmmm... poor screen.', I thought. 3 days later, near Quepos, Costa Rica, I used the TG-2 for the first time. The screen was flickering from blue-ish to actually ...

The TG-2 is my 9thwaterproof camera. I bought it 3 weeks ago to take on an overseas holiday, it was to replace my Olympus 820 which I bought October 2012. I used it on land for a few days on my holiday before taking it no more than 2 metres into. We were in Thailand and as the weather and the water was hot I carried out my usual precaution of making sure the body temperature of the camera was close to the water temp. On the first water plunge the inside of the lens fogged up a little but ...

I have had the TG-2 for 4 months and have thoroughly enjoyed using it. The reasons that prompted me to get this camera were - 1. the adage that "the best camera is the one you have with you". My TG-2 goes everywhere with me, rain or shine, day or night. It serves as my journal/diary, for a picture paints a thousand words. This camera is small and light enough to carry around, but so are the myriads of other cameras. However, with the TG-2, I do so with the peace of mind that if it gets ...
