I bought this camera for my wife, I own a couple of DSLR's and she just isn't comfortable with them. My wife loves the zoom and took great pictures of Ichiro Suzuki batting at Safeco Field all the way from behind right field at the Hit it Here Cafe. Of course our pictures were taken in daylight on a typical overcast day here in Seattle so the lighting contributed to the good pictures. My wife next took this fine little camera to So. Carolina to take pictures of new grandbabies. When my wife ...

I bought this as a replacement for my Oly CZ750-UZ which had given me trouble free fun for 3 years, producing sharp, true colour pictures with very little adjustment required on the camera or pp. I really struggled to get decent images out of the 550. At macro and the far end of the zoom it was impressive, but in between it was all over the place, with erratically exposed images, lousy focus, dodgy colours and soft images. I so wanted to like the camera, but in the end traded it in at a ...

SP-550 vs DMC-FZ8 I am totally confused after reading the various private reviews/opinions on the SP-550, ratings seam to vary from 2 to an 8 out of ten. Something is fishy when you get such wide variances in the reviews/opinions. Are the manufactures posting misleading comments in billboards like this one, by claiming superior performance for their cameras and posting bad comments on the competitor’s product???? I read this review SP-550 vs. FZ8 - Both cameras have some exceptional ...

"I dropped my Olympus camera from the top of the Empire State Building into a vat of raw sewage and now it doesn't work. I say - "bad build quality!"

Used it for a few days and I was not happy at all with image quality. Lots of noise and unsharp images at the telephoto end. I returned it for a refund. Problems: High noise

Had the camera for one week and used it everyday out in the fields. First impression is a well-constructed camera that feels good in the hand, is easy to hold and has all controls in the correct place, however, first impressions when used in the field are not as good as I expected. I found the big viewing screen is not as sharp as the big screen on my Ixus 55 and I found it easier to use the EVF, the zoom motor is slow and noisy and there is noise above ISO 50 that increases as the ISO is ...

i have just received my Olympus SP-550 UZ, apparently the camera is as good as shown in the papers, but after some shots you will realize that the image quality is not as good as they say. The colors used to appear washed, specially the red tones. The lens are good, but the pictures taken at 504 mm are not too sharp. At ISO 50 the noise is under control but is higher than the noise showed by my old Sony MAVICA CD500 at ISO 100. In conclusion, this camera is nicer in papers that in reallity Pr ...
