I own this camera since Feb 2005. It is a pont-&-shoot that is as close to an SLR as you can get at the time of purchase. I like it because it is sophiticated enough to make good picture and yet small enough for travelling with. I really love the remote that comes with the unit. The wide angle lens is a great feature. and the tilt LCD view screen is great for shooting things at difficult angle. Problems: Poor high ISO performance. Slow shutter response in most settings Don't try to shoot ...

Very nicely done body. After 15 months sensor overloaded with dust. Pixel Mopping doesn't work anymore. No way to get good picture quality with iso more than 50 . Lot of nose : color and regular. Original program / came with camera/ has very weak noise filter. When Noise cleaned off Image looks SOUPY. I believe image sensor too small for 8.0 Mpix output. You may check same Camera -Canon PowerShoot 8.0 pix - sensor LARGE and Quality Higher. Problems: Dust,Noise, small sensor,RAW turbo works too ...

Mixed bag. Not real happy. I bought this camera in July of 2004 after reading many glowing reviews of its quality, in both construction and pictures. Overall the camera is solid. Rock Solid. Battery life is good, and when everything is dialed in and absolutely perfect, it takes outstanding pictures with excellent color, saturation, detail and quality. But therein lies the rub. Everything must *always* be absolutely perfect to take a good picture. The camera cannot cope well with low ...

I have been shooting more than 2 years with this camera, over 10000 photos This is my second digicam. I have been using numerous other digicams, nikon sony and canon, but never for more than a dozen of shots. OL 8080 has very good optics. Autofocus works great IF there is plenty of light and no distracting things. Battery lasts long time. Standard filter. 24mm wide-angle lens. Nice built-in flash with hardly any red-eye issues, that triggers by just opening it, just as it should. Great raw ...

Dumped it for a Canon G6 (following a fair comprehensive testing). Likes: Really solid construction. Good lens. Tilting LCD. Remote, though basic , control. Great Battery life. Outstanding EVF, almost lifelike! Picture quality much better than G6 (in my opinion). Twin storage, uses CF. DISLIKES: Terrible, over-complex menu system. No proper handbook - CD ROM only. Painfully SLOW autofocus, especially in closeup. Unreliable autofocus. Often showing focus locked when the picture is anything but. ...

This camera has two major problems. One is the white balance, which is not very accurate in most indoor situations. I gave only a rating of 4 instead of 4.5 because of this. Second is the lens has too many elements in it. I think it is around 14 elements in 10 groups.(I may be wrong but close). Anyway the lens loses about 2/3 stop of light compared with my current Canon G2. This made the photos in low light situation must depend on flashs since the control of the high ISO noise is also not ...

I bought this one as a companion to my MF film cameras. Key selling points were 1. compatibility with my MF range (the Zuiko lens is about the same range with my two Sekors, plus image aspect ratio is exactly the same) 2. robust construction. Image quality did not matter much to me, I am relying on the MF gear for this. Please mind that in most cases I shoot at manual mode as I believe I can control things better. In certain aspects this Olympus exceeded my expectations. The Zuiko lens is a ...

Now after 7 months of useage I can say I bought the wrong camera. I mistakeningly thought I could delay buying an SLR but the shutter speed inside and outside doesn't impress me. It's autofocusing is so poor, praying that a picture works out just doesn't cut it for me. I am bidding my time until I get the funds for an upgrade, to which I have decided will never again be an Olympus.
