I consider myself a "serious" amateur photographer, I just got this camera couple weeks ago, I've been using the sony F-707. This is a nice camera AFTER you get used to it, initially, it takes playing around with the settings if you want the perfect pictures, I wouldn't consider this camera a point & shoot, although it can certainly do that, it just that you probable will get much more from the camera if you tweak the settings to match your photograhic moments. The main reason why I chose ...

I've been into serious amatuer photography for a while, having come from MF film SLR's. a couple of digital PS...and a Canon 10d DSLR with a several lenses. I got tired of the bulk and wheight of carrying the (D)SLR's around all the time, and because of my other digital being an older 3.2 Mp, decided on the 8080 after reading much. I haven't regretted it at all. Now the 8080 is by no means a DSLR, but it's not bad. It won't do high ISO. It takes a while to focus in low light. It takes forever ...

UPDATE (11/1/05): I HIGHLY recommend the WCON-08D wide angle converter lens for the C-8080. It's VERY sharp (no loss of sharpness relative to the C-8080's built-in zoom lens) and exhibits very low distortion (except at close focusing distances) and NO vignetting, even with a slim filter attached to the main lens! My perspective on the C-8080 is based on 30+ years of photography experience. My first 35mm SLR film camera was an Olympus OM-1 and my last was a Canon EOS A2, which I sold in ...

This camera defines the word "prosumer" in every sense. I have never held a camera of any kind, regardless of type or price, that felt as good in my hands as this camera. It instills confidence just by the way it fits and the sensible placement of its controls. While some are leary of the size and weight, I find them to be ideal for more serious photography where the fit and weight actually help keep the camera steady at slower shutter speeds. The optics are superb. You can't do any better ...

Excellend dgital camera (build, lens, pics quality, natural colur rendition, features, ....) .I pray OLYMPUS folks for two things: 1600ASA with low noise 640x480 movie mode with unlimited recording time and optycal stabilisation. With those two things I am in heaven.... I do a lot of low light photography,I hope for a C8080 pro version with more sensitivity. Asking for a little smaller camera I think is to much!!! Thank you OLYMPUS. Problems: slow auto focus in low light

I have been buying good quality cameras for 40 years and have owned and enjoyed mainly Nikon SLR's over the years. I became weary of carrying around a heavy bag of bodies and lenses etc and bought an Olympus 5060 - I really liked it and bought the 8080. It is an outstandingly good camera - beautifully made and a joy to use - takes a bit of learning but is a pleasure to experiment with. The battery life is outstanding and it feels just right in the hand. If I had it stolen tomorrow I would ...
