Very good all-around camera, very well built for the price, big range of controls, relatively user-friendly, and very good images considering the 3Mp. Totally recommended for the actual price. Problems: The main one, and above all, sunlight: not only on the LCD, but even with the viewfinder sometimes it gets almost impossible to view trough it. And some other "minor" faults, as too many navigation menus (lacks some important buttons for direct use) and remeber that 38mm, not wide at all...

This is good camera for semi-professional photographers. 2 features that I most enjoyed: 10X zoom and EVF. Problems: The camera isn't small at all, I liked much more D510 construction. Also you shouldn't forget to open flash before use.

This camera is not for beginners, but would be perfect for someone with previous digital camera experience. The menus are a little bit complicated to navigate, but the only reason for that is because this camera has so many great options. One great thing is that even if you leave the lens cap on when you are turning the camera on, it doesn't damage or mess up the camera in any way! I researched a lot before I bought this camera, and several of the main reasons that I bought it were the 10X ...

Low light Auto focus not nearly as good as the C700 Purchased this camera, and took it back with-in a week. Main reason for return? I currently own the C-700UZ and am very pleased with it, but wanted a 3+ megapix camera so thought the 740 would fit the bill; wrong! As others have said, auto focus in low light is very poor. The 700 does a much better job Check out my website for some examples of low light photos. http://home.insightbb.com/~chronos70 If Olympus would have improved on that one ...

After owning several other good digital cameras, I purchased the Olympus C-740 UZ primarily for its long zoom lens. I have been pleasantly surprised by the excellent image quality even when shooting fast moving action hand-held at full zoom. I'm a soccer fan and with this lens I can capture close-up player action at all locations of the field. I shoot at 1/1000 shutter preference settings. One unexpected benefit is the Electronic Viewfinder. I live in California where the bright sunshine ...

I bought the camera for the Ultra Zoom and it works great. I use the camera for outdoor photography and have been impressed with the image quality. The camera has very good auto settings and manual to let you fiddle all you want. I paid $350 and it was worth the money. Problems: The camera works for indoor with the flash but it is now a good low light camera.

1. Good picture quality and feature for this price range. 2. Love the 10x zoom. 3. Have not had a red eye photo yet even though not using the red eye reduction function. 4. Excellent battery life. Problems: 1. Focusing problem with low lighting condition. 2. Delay response in zoom control when trying to reverse the zoom.

I have a Canon EOS 630 that I have used for many years. It is a great camera, but I will probably stop using it for most of my day-to-day photography. The C-740 has most of the features that I have used on the EOS and takes great pictures. I chose the 740 over the HP850 and Fuji 3800 because of the manual access to all features including focus, the quality of the pictures, and the optics/zoom. The optical zoom was my baseline critieria for selecting a camera. For the money, the C-740 has a ...
