Does the V1 have the clear glass dust protector like the J1? Wife has a J1. I think the dust protector is a great idea.  I think I read somewhere that the V1 did not have it.  Anybody know for sure? I'm thinking of picking up a used V1. Thanks Macmaven

Does my Nikon One J1 have an Aptina sensor that is capable of the "Aptina conversion gain changing trick? ... aka "dual base ISO"? If so, what are the ISO's? Related question? Is the Aptina sensor used in the One's considered to be "ISO-invariant" with very low noise floor? This Sony a7Rii semi-newbie finds that its "dual base ISO" of 100 and 640 is very impressive. This technology was apparently developed by Aptina, and perhaps licensed to Sony. My observation based on limited experience is...

Hi there, my 1st post in this section of the forum...I tend to "lurk" for the most part, but try to be active now an again! Ive just got a V1/FT1 and J1 recently, so was wondering what to expect in regards to image quality for close up/macro photography. My subjects being Butterflies/Reptiles/Dragonflies/Bugs etc. I have a D700, and both the nikon macro/micro 105mm VR lens, an also a Sigma 150mm F/2.8 APO DG macro lens too. But to be honest, most of my close up/macro work is shot using a...

I am curious if the FT-1 acts the same on V series bodies as it does on J series  when I use the FT-1 with my F mount nikkors on my J1 or J4 bodies the cameras default to center point focus and the ability to use focus tracking and all focus points is gone  is this the same on V series bodies or do you retain all focus modes I have tried this with several lenses and it acts the same with all of them 70-200 vr 24-70 60mm micro and 35mm 1.8   all AF-S G lenses   I am in the process of deciding...

I've been shooting semi-professionally with Nikon DSLR's for many years now, which uses large, easy to handle Compact Flash cards... I pop the card out and into a IEEE1394 fire wire reader, and off I go. I just purchased a J5 (wife has had a J1 for years) just for shooting around the house. Ok I get it, everything's smaller today, and the 1 series has gone from SD cards to micro SD! I really don't want to pop out the micro card from the camera every time I have a new photo to upload. I had...

Yesterday I left my trusty old SONY DSC R 1 at home and instead I took with me the NIKON 1 j1 .I washappy for traveling light until  it stopped working . Suddenly it's screen got black . My first reaction was to remove the 10 - 30 lens and mount it back . It worked for a while , then it stopped again , I removed the lens about 4-5 times and had the possibility to take about 60-70 photosbefore it stopped working for good. Now the screen indicates the usual things it used to when working...

The flash on my J1 (bought 7/29/2013) now always fires even if it's not popped up . The screen shows the flash symbol all the time. Has anybody had this problem? If yes, have you fixed it? What did you do to fix it? Thanks! (The firmware in my camera was A 1.30/B 1.30. There is a A 1.40/B 1.40 firmware available so I updated the camera to that version, hoping against hope but, no dice. It appears to be a hardware problem.) --Anna Nguyen

I have a wonderful 600mm f4 ED IF AiS manual focus that I unfortunately only get a chance to use now and then - bought used nearly nine years ago for a trip to Alaska. I keep it in its trunk case and we are a non-smoking family. ( and I also have a modified Teleconverter 1.4 AF I use with it to help me get focus) I want to have it 'cleaned' - not that there are any significant 'issues' , just that I feel the images can be sharper/clearer - becase I myself just got a new pair of glasses, and I...

Currently using Nikon J1 for making YouTube Videos. My pros and cons for using the J1 are: Pros: Video comes out well (when its focused) Sound is excellent in video Easy to make Videos Cons: Always battling with trying to keep video in focus LCD, esp with me getting older, is very small for my tastes LCD is not able to move OEM Battery is ridiclously priced Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, be it camera or camcorder, that would still have the good sound and video of the J1, not...

Just bought a refurbished Nikon 1 J1. Found everything in the box except a battery charger unit. I contacted the seller and he's claiming that on the J1 the battery is charged in the camera via the USB cable. I'm highly doubtful especially as the manual states that a dedicated charger unit is needed and should be in the box - but I just want to verify that the seller is giving me BS before I give him an unpleasant phone call. Can any J1 owner confirm either way?
