A few of months ago, I posted a question about which camera I should purchase, the Nikon D610 or the D700. I have discounted the D750 due to its continual issues. I have not yet made the purchase and would like to know if the AF in the D700 is superior to the D610. If so, is this a good enough reason to go with an almost decade old camera over an almost 3 year old one. I do weddings mostly and need reliable AF in low light. If anyone is interested in my original post the link is below. Thank...

I've had a request from a friend. Is the shutter quieter than that of the D7200? I only have a D300 and D700 and I know it's quieter than those but my friend doesn't live nearby so it would be difficult to compare. Anyone have that combo? I'm interested in both the normal single shutter mode, the burst rate mode and quiet burst modes. He is an ornithologist and want to photograph local owls.

Hello knowledgable people:   I have a D3300 and i understand it shoots in only 12 bit raw? Now I'm not the most knowledgable person, not very computer savy, but just what makes the big deal?  i also shoot my D700 and D7100, I don't by my eye see any difference in any of the three cameras, I shoot raw only, my D700 and D7100 i did set it to 14bit?? and my D3300 I just set raw, not knowing any significant difference.  So! if someone can explain just what the difference is between 12 bit and 14...

Does anyone have experience with using the Nikon 24mm 1.4 on the Commlite AF adapter? Would it cause vignetting? I've seen some review/test videos using the 50mm and 85mm 1.4, but none of the 24mm.  I've been mostly shooting Nikon and m43 for the past few years, and it's time to upgrade from the trusty d700. I've grown to like the "silent" shutter on the m43 cameras, so I'm drawn to try the A7rii, instead of the D750/D810. Trying it with the Commlite adapter would be a relatively...

Hi there. I just sold a Nikon 12-24 DX lens to a buyer on eBay. The buyer has tested the lens on a D7100 and a D700 and that both cameras report the lens as Tokina AT-X124AF. The following list confirms that the serial number of the Nikon lens is correct and authentic: www.photosynthesis.co.nz/nikon/serialno.html Anyone have any idea what is going on here? Is it possible that the buyer's cameras are incorrectly recognizing the lens? Many thanks!

Hi Everyone, I’m new member of this forum, so first of all I want to say welcome! I have a D700 Nikon camera and the dial from the back of the camera (dial that usually changes the shutter speed/ISO/WB/Image quality) has a lag in changing the settings that I want. This issue is not present all the time, but from 10 turns of the dial (it does not matter if rotate the dial to right side or left) only 5 time it’s working on the first time; If not, I need to turn the dial again to change the...

I'm coming from FF D700 with a couple lens currently, 16-35/4 and 1.8 50mm.  Sold 70-200mm as I don't really use tele much. I just recently bought the EM5 II and got the pancake lens 14-42 as it's small and great for travel/vacation.  I didn't want to lug around my D700 when we're travelling to resorts with 2 kids and hauling few pounds of equipment just doesn't make sense anymore. So I'm trying to minimize the 4/3 as well.  I don't want to carry 3-4 zooms and 10 primes on a vacationing...

Ok ... Ok ... I know its initially a bizarre sounding question, but the D500 has piqued my interest as I still have a number of nice DX lenses that I could use on a good body. One thing that I was just mulling over though is this - when the D700 hit the scene and a number of pros started using them, one thing that did seem to come to light after a while was that shooters who use a camera mounted flash started to have more issues with the D700 than the D3 type bodies, and IIRC, it was...

I have been getting eye ache and fatigue from the tiny VF on my D5300. I thought this was normal. I then picked up an old D300 in a shop and was WOW. With the D5300 (I'm a left eye shooter) I often have to squint my left eye and sometimes even shut my right eye. I have adjusted the diopter. On the D300 it was night and day. Bright, clear, didn't need to squint or close other eye and also didn't need to put it so close to my eye and peer through it! It was so nice and comfortable and easy to...

Hello, I am an amateur photographer (as a hobby) and I have been tasked by my partners for a real estate development to take pictures of samples of kitchen finishes for clients to select from. They will include granite / quartz countertops, various wood grain cabinets (including whites), flooring materials etc. The largest sample is approx. 24" by 30", but could be cut down if need be, the rest are 12" x 18" or 12" x 18" etc. I'm not sure the best way to photograph this. Should I buy some...
