With what lens would you photograph a baseball bat, roughly three feet long? The goal is to capture great detail, so that it is as if you are holding the bat in your hands. I've tried shooting with a 50mm 1.4 (on a Nikon D700), but I'm forced to be too far away. Below is an example of the detail I would like along the entire length of the bat. Thank you. Hello;         I've thought of adding the Nikon grip to my D7100? I have a grip on my D700 better FPS, and on my D200 extended batt.life. Plus all my cameras have the "L" grips with or without the grip.My D7100 has a RRS "L" bracket and I like it a lot, but I'm wondering is the grip a asset to the D7100? batt. life is good and no increase in FPS, so is there a clear advantage of the grip?  Thanks for comments. My D90 does not have a grip.   "Dog house riley"

Hi guys! I've never done Astrophotography before. I've also just sold sold all my Samsung NX gear to go back to DSLR as I can't stand the digital Viewfinders and I need something grippier in my hand. In Mid July, my son, my wife and I are going to Denmark on his first holiday. We're going to Rømø, where my wife has been four years ago in September and she told me about being able to see the milky way with the naked eye when standing on the beach. I want to photograph this really badly......

Hello all.  I'd like to move to a tablet for live view.  Currently using a Nikon D700 with a lot of manual focus lenses and the eyes are going.  I use Cam Ranger and that is fine on a MacBook Pro at home but the laptop is getting to be a pain to lug around, hence looking at a tablet. After 20 years of Macs I'm getting a bit fed up with Apple and want to look at Android devices.  My only experience with Android so far has been a phone that I bought for it's multiple SIM cards.  I found the OS...

I just acquired a new DMC-ZS50, and I'm trying to figure out what all this thing does ... does anyone with this camera know if it can be set to show blinking highlights for overexposure in review mode?  I've always found them very useful to avoid blown-out areas, and I'm not finding it in the manual ...    --Rogerhttp://www.tinius-photo.com/Roger

Hi all,I have also posted this in the D300 forum....... I am considering selling my D300 and D700 bodies and picking up a D7200. Reasons are that I also have a D750 and I am looking for more reach but not at the expense of high ISO performance as compared to the D700. Also, I checked out the D7200 at the store and found that the controls are very similar to my D750. This is very handy when shooting functions and having to move very quickly between cameras without having to stop and think...

Hi, I'm looking for a "light weight" all-in-one travel lens for my Nikon D700. I own both the 24-70mm 2.8 and 70-200mm 2.8 - but both are too heavy for a big trip I have coming up. I'm looking at the Nikkor 18mm-200 - but I think it's only for dx. There's also the 28-300mm - which is pricey for  just a travel lens, but I has decent reviews. Any experience with either of these lenses? Do you know of other lenses I should consider? I want a single lens with decent quality. It doesn't have to be...

I have several Nikon speedlights, including SB-300, SB-500, SB-600, SB-700 and SB-900. Normally I use the smaller flashes with the Df, because they just seem better suited. The other day, however, I pulled out the SB-900 and started shooting it with the Df. I was using matrix metering, the flash was set to TTL, I was doing what I typically do but my images were coming out way over exposed. The SB-900 works properly with my D800, D700, D300, so I don't suspect a problem with the flash, and the...

Before I am being stoned here, let me just say that I have been photographing with Nikon for the last 13 years and now decided to trade my gear for Canon so I am not physically familiar with the camera models. I bought my Nikon D700 about four years ago and after about three years it was already lost most of its value, when newer technology was implemented even in entry level models. Since then, I have decided to think very hard before spending a lot of money on a camera body again, when...

Has anyone ever had this issue?  I put a flash (sb900) or pocket wizard in the hot shoe and my camera will not shoot at all.  I have no idea what could cause this.  At first I thought the camera would not work at all, as I usually have a flash on top of my camera.  Later I realized it only will not shoot if there is anything in the hotshoe.  The flash on top (attached) will work still.  TIA
