I took about 250 shots using a Nikon D2x on a Scandisk Extreme 8GB memory card this weekend (Wedding) shooting in RAW. I checked the pictures after each shot all looked fine, so I kept shooting. After taking about 250 pictures I noticed my counter was on 550 I clicked the viewer to check all was ok. I changed cards at this point, I can see every file on the CF card (there are about 250.files, all about half the normal size size - 12-16mb) but I can only view in ViewNX2 not edit just view, I...

I am looking at gettng the MIII. I have been "downsizing" for years. I have gone through the Nikon D2X->D300->Panny G1->Oly OMD. This is my next step. The RX100 looked like just what I wanted. Since I do not worship at the "Temple of Low Light" or do videos. A super fast lens is not vital to me. Most of my photography is travel/landscape/buildings . If you look at my Flickr stream you will see that I think the MIII will fill abouty 90%+ of my needs. My biggest concern is at the other end of...

I understand when there was the D2x and the D300 why the differentiation between "pro" and "non-pro" DX cameras. But since 2010 there have been cameras like the D5200 and D7000 that were far better cameras than these "pro" DX cameras in almost every respect. I had the D2x, D3, D300 and all their predecessors, and now have the D800e and the D7100 cameras. The IQ from the D7100 surpasses all of these DX cameras by a wide margin. It produces images at ISO 3200 that compare well to those from...

I used D3S and now D4S, but a situation often bother me. I often shoot sport and animal theme using thumb pushing the AF-ON with 51 points 3D tracking AF-C, then firing the sutter release with my index finger when I find the right moment. My thumb won't leave the AF-ON even after continous shots, so I can keep tracking on the subject and wait another right moment. I suppost this to be a common usage of D3/D4 series, to seperate the autofocusing and shutter release in different buttons. Here...

Hello, I'm new to the forum but have been using Nikon products for a while now. Recently I received a referb D2x from a local retailer (after they had to replace my old D2x due to repair issues). The problem I'm having is not unique to the referb, it existed in my original D2x as well. I recently rented a 70-200 f2.8 for a shoot and when it arrived I noticed that (like my old D2x) when I activated the Auto focus switch or the VR switch on the lens my battery indicator goes from full strength...

Hello folks; I'm still fishing for the correct set up. I recently posted about a gimbal head? good responses, just haven't purchased yet!  Another thought, I'm using 2 20 plus year old tripods, 3021 and 3001 Bogen's and my heaviest set up is my D2X and a recently purchased Nikon 400 3.5 AIS, this camera and lens set up stresses my current outfits, get gimbal head for 3021, retire the Bogen 3265 pistol grip, use the 3001 with my Foba ball head, and be at extreme limit for tripod.  Now to my...

Hello;        I'm looking for a gimbal head for my Bogen 3021 tripod? I've always wanted a Nikon 400 3.5 lens[desired for 25 years] well! I recently purchased a used [bargin @ KEH] and I have been using a Bogen 3265 pistol grip head, and the lens with my D2X, is too heavy, it takes 3 hands to use, one on camera one to squeeze the pistol grip and one to focus, I can't afford the Wimberly's  but I know there are some great Gimbal heads for a lot less, so! could some of you maybe put me onto one...

Hi Everyone! Looking for suggestions. I have an old D2X that's on it's last legs. I want to upgrade the camera and downgrade the weight, but still get the best quality as I can. I'm planning a RTW trip next year and want something as close to professional grade, but I'm not willing to lug the weight around (I'll be carrying 1 backpack for the whole time). I've been eyeing the 7100. Thoughts on this or suggestions on others? My plans will be to sell my pictures, so looking for a camera that...

I recently bought a used D2x, with low mileage, whitewall tires, and Corinthian leather seats. Anyway, it came with a couple of 8gig, 120 X Lexar cards.  I want to buy a few more cards and I was wondering if the D2x has a limit on the gig size it will take, and on the card speed it will handle. I don't want to waste money getting a gazillion X card if the D2x will only handle a half-gazillion X of speed.  Same deal with the number of gigs. Thanks in advance.       --"I'm hooked on The...

I haven't had a Nikon since way back when I borrowed a friend's Nikkormat, and I loved that camera. I now use Sigma gear, for a number of good reasons I won't get into here.  But I'm interested in buying a used Nikon DX2 to use for some situations at the sports shoots that I do, and I need some advice from the Nikon crowd here.  Here's a list of reasons I'm looking at the D2X. I need: 1 ... something very inexpensive, but semi-sophisticated, if dated. 2 ... a large bodied camera. (I use...
