Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR

I'm wondering if trading in my 18-55 kit lens that came with my D5100 (which I got in December) for an old 18-70 (I don't want to $460 on a new version that is so much like my 18-55) or new 16-85 is worth it. I really like the versatility that the 16-85 gives me, but don't like the price. I like my 18-55, and would be trading it in to get one of the other lenses if I trade it in at all. Thanks!

I am considering a new lens to use when just out in the city which would replace my Nikon 18-55VR f3.5-5.6. I just picked up a D5100 w/the kit AF-S DX 18-55mm VR lens. I'm happy with it for the half-day that I've had it so far, as it's better than a cell phone camera, but I've noticed that the lens makes a mildly irritating/worrying squeaking sound when it's doing any extensive autofocusing (took a video that captures it pretty well, though this happens any time it's hunting for focus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXLuYBWoi6A).
