AF-S DX Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF VR Lens Review
By: What Digital Camera (11 months ago)
Overall this is a noteworthy lens on account of its high-level specification and affordable pricing. It has a significant weakness in its residual chromatic aberrations, despite the use of ED glass, but its MTF performance is truly impressive. In short, this is an excellent starter lens that can accommodate a wide range of common picture-taking situations.

The Nikon 18-105mm /3.5-5.6 definitely raises the bar for Nikon's current lineup of kit lenses; consistently sharp, even at large apertures, with good resistance to chromatic aberration. Corner shading is prevalent, but it's not a noticeable problem. Distortion is evident and irregular, but again, you're probably only going to notice it if you need your straight lines to be absolutely straight.
