Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2

I have had the 7i and the A2 was the logic trade up... It had more bells and whistles and it was faster but... images are more noisy out of the box advantages, better jpegs, less need for RAW Keeps the ergonomics which were and are good. Still Love the tilting evf Lens is very nice. Everything now a bit outdated, but still a capable camera. Problems: Still no match for a dslr when it moves fast... Focussing was faster but less acurate

OK< i have used this camera heavily for about 3 years. I have done several photo shoots, a wedding, fireworks, reunions, etc. This has been a remarkable camera. Yes, comparatively speaking, it still in my opinion, holds its own on many fronts with the newer mega mega zooms ( this is only 7x), and ultra MP cameras, ( this is 8mp, vs 10-12mp zoomers ). A2 is my second KM camera. I used the A200 first and found it was quite user friendly and delivered good result. After a few month's usage, I left it for my brother, and later I acquired an used A2. There is no camera today (Jan. 2007) that can offer the same features as the A2. I have used the A2 for two years now, and have found it to be the perfect camera for the tweeners (Point and Shoot to Serious Dslr's). It fills the gap just right. All the tweeking you want with all the simpleness you need at times. A very good investment in pleasure photography.

Its too bad this camera is now an orphan. Generally, I have been quite happy with it in the year and a half I have owned it. As many people have commented, the CF door and the USB port cap are a bit poorly built, but otherwise, the camera takes a lot of knocks. Warning: Don't buy any Konica Minolta The only thing that works well is the anti-shake function: the pictures are less blurred using zoom conditions with anti shake turned on. Just bought my "new" A2 and took approximately 500 pictures. Used the KM FAx to get started with the camera ; this has been a great help ("My Ax has arrived, so what do I do now?") First impressions : great ease of use and handling, most settings via knobs and dials. Good quality EVF ; this was my main concern after my E-20.
