I've just ordered a Canon Vixia HF G30 on Ebay. It's my first video camera designed for video. I've been using a Canon T3i and Zoom H1 for the past few years. I've very excited. The Canon Vixia HF G30 has canon's "mini advanced hot shoe" for accessories but I haven't seen any great accessories that take advantage of it. The only accessories I see are adaptors to a standard hot shoe. I'm wondering, and I can't be the first to think of this, would the XLR handle from one of the sibling pro XA...

This is both a rhetorical question and a practical one, and would appreciate replies from X70 users. I'm looking to see how the touch screen works, and if it would work in the specific situation I have here. I am using a XA1 with 35/1.4. (I am waiting to get the X70, but have to wait to buy it in Canada as Thailand is too expensive).  I was taking portraits of this monk in Thailand. and noticed he had a really funky wooden staff. I wanted to first get the staff in focus, and then his face in...

I'm thinking of getting either the fujifilm x-a1 or the sony a5000. I like them both, but I want to know, which one has the better image quality with the kit lens? Keep in mind that I can get either of them for 400$, so price isn't an issue. Thanks, Cormac.

I'm thinking of buying either of these, the sony a5000, or the fujifilm x-a1. I can get either camera for the same price and lenses arent a problem because i intend to buy an adapter for my old minolta rokkor-x 50mm lens. Im leaning towards the fujifilm x-a1 because I compared the reviews on photography blog and the x-a1 had better image quality. When zooming in I could see much more detail.  Please tell me which one I should buy for a beginner.  PS-  I take street photography portraits and...

I am considering getting an xa1 to use exclusively with vintage manual focus lenses. I have done a bit of searching but still have a few questions about how well this would work. As I said my plan is to just use vintage manual lenses so I am looking for feedback from people who use similar lenses a lot rather than just as an occasional novelty. I have used manual film rangefinders and slrs so I am used to manual cameras but am unsure exactly how it works on a fuji csc, particularly wrt...

Hello, I apologize if this been asked too many times. I tried to use the search function but still unable to get final answer. I would like to ask for advices for what mirrorless to get. You see, in my country the price is rather strange, and not all models are available, so I'm rather confused what to choose. I plan to use them for macro, landscape, some birds, and night shot. Here are my options (all price are converted to USD from my country currency):SONY ALPHA SLT A3000 KIT 18-55MM USD...

That's my basic question. Somehow my flash got turned off  (it was greyed out in the setup menu) and, tho I don't use the flash very often, there are times when I need it. So I went into the menu and tried every which way to turn on the flash and I couldn't do it. I didn't want to reset the camera because I have my settings which I like and didn't want to lose them. And of course I didn't have my manual with me when I went on a trip to Bangkok from up country Thailand where I live (tho it...

I use a FUJIFILM X-A1 with a Nikon FX Adapter for my 14mm F/2.8 Samyang Lens. (Nikon Version)The Lens alone weights a bit over 560g. Now i have seen some Time long the 12mm F/2 Samyang for the X-Mount with only 260g !The Question is: should I buy the 12mm F/2 Samyang to save more as the double weight ? The only disadvantage is that i can use this Lens only for the X-Mount.The 14mm F/2.8 Samyang is usable on both, the native F-Mount and the X-Mount with a Adapter. The second Question is: has...
