I am looking to buy a new camera primarily for my wife and also for my occasional use My hands shake a lot and image stabilization is a big criteria for me. Also I would love to have manual zoom options which I can play around with. outdoors and zoom would be a plus but I am not sure if I can carry around huge lens for that purpose. I have a canon s3 IS and have rarely used it despite the fact that it takes good pictures and videos. My wife (primary user of the camera) could be taking lots of...

Hello, I am using my new Fujifilm XQ-1 and have found one annoying thing: when previewing pictures taken, they look darker than while shooting. I mean, when I focus, the displayed picture is ok, when I take a shoot and there is 1 sec. preview - it is unchanged. However when I press triangle button to preview previous pictures, they look darker than while shooting. After downloading to my PC, they seem to be OK. Why is it so? Thanks

Hi I am going to New York on holiday in a few days, and last minute I have decided I would like to treat myself to a camera before I go. I would like a compact and not spend any more then £220. I have made a short list so far of:- Sony HX60 - £219 Fuji XQ1 - £219 Fuji XF1 - £119 I am open if I have missed any other camera I should be looking at. Which of these would be best, mainly the odd photo of the city and pictures of days out. Small enough to fit in my pocket. I have had a look at USA...

Hello, I was thinking on some pocket camera to replace my old Olympus XZ-1 (normally I use Sony Alpha 580 with tons of lenses, so my bag is very heavy), like RX100 or Fuji XQ1. In the local shop I tested HX50 for a while and started to consider it. After reading positive review I think to change the decision. HX50 is comfortable in my hand. It has fast zooming lens (zooming in range of RX100 is much faster in HX50) and some other advantages. And is much cheaper. I was surprise about one...

So I replaced my old Finepix F11 with a micro 4/3rds camera and I've found that it's really more camera than I like to lug around when I travel. I like the low light performance of the m43 and the wide angle of the fixed 14mm lumix lens, but I don't like the added bulk and I miss the ability to zoom. Any ideas for a replacement? The S120 and the XQ1 look good, however I wouldn't mind spending less. Some things I'm looking for: -better low light performance than the f11 -similar size or...

My current P&S is a Sony DSC-W80... until I got my iPhone 5S and realized how much better my pictures could be.  But after 6 months with the new phone I know that any picture heavy trips, such as my upcoming trip to Europe, would benefit from a new stand alone camera with modern specs.  It really doesn't seem like I bought the Sony *that* long ago but I guess I did.  It's nice to not be storage space restricted as you would be on a smartphone that is competing for space with...

I'm not a beginner but I wonder if it's  really true that the sensor size is one of the most important factors for having a good shots. (Obviously I'm not talking af the APS od Full Frame sensor)  I try to explain my doubts : I bought the Fuji XQ1 with a bigger sensor  (2/3)  than my compacts (Pansonic TZ40 - Fuji 900EXR) with sensor 1/2.3  . After 2 months and many shots I havent' seen any difference between the Fuji XQ1 and the Panasonic  (and I'm not blind !!)  Now I read that some compact...

I have been reading the reviews and comparisons on DPR for the various classes and sizes of compact cameras with interest. Basically I've been using an old Canon Ixus 500 P&S for years and it's died, and it's time to start learning photography. I am basically in need of a compact camera with easy, ergonomic manual controls. Simple operation would lessen the overall difficulty and increase motivation levels to get out there and experiment and get some practice. Excessive menu navigating is a...

Both the RX100 and the XQ1 are blurred but the Nikon and Canon are crisp.... At low ISO this is obviously an error... Can DPreview correct this ?? I can only assume the RX100 was not focussed properly: --Jules.
