DxOMark Mobile report: Sony Xperia Z2 takes top spot

The Xperia Z2 is Sony's latest flagship smartphone and replaces the Z1. The full-HD display measures 5.2 inches and offers better viewing angles than its predecessor's 5-inch equivalent. While a new Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM offer plenty of power, the camera specification is nearly identical to the Z1's. Images are captured by a 20.7MP 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor on a F2.0 lens. Nevertheless, Sony has managed to improve the image quality of its new flagship. Learn more

Sony Xperia Z2 brings 4K video to its flagship smartphone

Sony Xperia Z Camera Review: Do its impressive specs measure up?

Sony Xperia Z sinks in DxOMark Mobile Report

We just published the DxOMark Mobile Report for the Sony Xperia Z on and the results don't look fantastic. DxO's imaging experts have analyzed 14 aspects of mobile imaging including detailed image quality assessment, flash performance, autofocus reliability and more to calculate a final score and the Sony scores lower than most of its competitors. We will start working on our evaluation once we receive a review unit at DPR Connect but for now click through to find out how the Sony Xperia Z's camera performed in the DxO lab tests.

Comparison shots pit Sony Xperia Z against Apple iPhone and Oppo Find 5

A Vietnamese site is sharing what it claims are sample images from Sony's new Xperia Z smartphone, compared with shots from both the Apple iPhone 5 and the Oppo Find 5, both of which will feature Sony's new 13-megapixel Exmor RS stacked CMOS sensor. Although we can't vouch for the integrity of the sample shots, if they're genuine, the comparison provides an interesting look at what the Xperia and Oppo Find 5's cameras may be capable of.
