Pre-Photokina 2006: Ulead Systems Inc. has announced the latest version of its flagship image editing software, PhotoImpact 12. The new version features ExpressFix mode - a simplified interface that allows users to adjust color, exposure and focus with one-click presets and a SmartGuide 'How-to' panel. Version 12 also adds a new white-balance correction tool, an enhanced Reduce Noise feature and the RAW file format has been extended to cover more camera models.

Ulead has announced the availability of its image editing program PhotoImpact 11. The new version allows you to choose one of five 'My Workspace' modes, with a basic mode for beginners and advanced mode for high end users. Every Workspace can be customized to configure the workspace to your individual needs. Other features include 16-bit editing, RAW/DNG support, editable alpha-channel masks for objects and in a nod to Photoshop, PhotoImpact 11 now offers non-destructive Layer Masks. PhotoImpact 11 will be available from October priced £49.99. Owners of previous editions will be able to upgrade for £29.99 via the website.

Ulead Systems has today announced PhotoImpact 10. Aimed at beginners, the update has a welcome screen which allows users quick access to tasks such as scanning, getting photos from a digital camera, browsing images or making simple edits. Some new high end features include an enhanced Lasso tool and Object Extraction Wizard for complicated cut-outs, a Touch up tool, live Histogram Panel display and enhanced High Dynamic Range (HDR) Engine. Other new features include a Basic Mode simplifies the interface and displays large, easy-to-recognise icons, revamped menu system, dockable and groupable panels, and a moe 'robust' Browse Manager.

Software: Ulead has today announced Ulead® PhotoImpact® XL, an enhanced version of PhotoImpact, Ulead’s flagship image editing software for the PC. PhotoImpact XL offers extensive learning materials, striking new filters and effects, and useful basic and high-end photo correction tools. The software is a complete image editing solution for digital photographers, graphic designers, and Web creators at home, school and the workplace. It is available immediately from the web site for $89.95 and in retail in November.

Here's a nice alternative to the supplied digital camera software, Ulead Photo Explorer will thumbnail and sort images, it's got download facilities for digital cameras and a TWAIN interface for scanners. Supports lossless JPEG rotation (without destroying the essential EXIF/CIFF data), batch resizing and file conversion. Sharing and Printing facilities. Best of all in it's Beta form it's a free download.
