Fujifilm releases X100S firmware 1.02, correcting OVF brightness bug

Fujifilm has announced the availability of new firmware for its X100S fixed-lens compact camera. Firmware version 1.02 corrects an issue where the framelines in the camera's viewfinder did not automatically adjust brightness at ISO 1600 and higher. Canon firmware for 5D Mark III allows uncompressed  video and AF at F8

Canon has released a firmware update for the EOS 5D Mark III with significant benefits for both stills and video shooters. Firmware version 1.2.1 allows uncompressed video output over the HDMI port as well as cross-type autofocus when working with a maximum aperture of F8. Nikon updates firmware for Coolpix P7700

Nikon has posted a firmware update for its Coolpix P7700 compact camera. Firmware 1.1 increases the accuracy of the P7700's virtual horizon, decreases delay between captures in auto exposure bracketing mode and addresses an issue that prevented shutter speeds slower than one second for the second and subsequent shots when shooting with Auto bracketing set to Exposure bracketing. The update is available for immediate download from Nikon's website. Pentax updates firmware for K-5 II/IIs DSLRs and Q mirrorless camera

Pentax has released firmware updates for its K-5 II, K-5 IIs DSLRs and Q mirrorless cameras. Canon updates firmware for EOS 6D Wi-Fi capable full-frame DSLR

Nikon updates firmware for D600, D800, D4, D3s, D3x, D3, D7000, D3200

Nikon has posted firmware updates for a number of its DSLRs. Updates for the D600, D800, D4, D3s, D3x, D3, D7000 and D3200 include support for the AF-S Nikkor 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR lens. The D600 and D800 see an improvement to the subject tracking performance in continuous autofocus mode when shooting using the optical viewfinder. Panasonic posts firmware for DMC-GH3 and announce GH3-Minute Movies

Panasonic has posted the promised firmware updates for its movie-focused Lumix DMC-GH3 mirrorless camera, the 14-42mm and 45-175mm power zooms and the 45-150mm lens. The GH3 update adds the ability to shoot 1080p60 footage in MP4 format and lets users connect to a computer via Wi-Fi by entering the computer name (NetBIOS names for Mac). Meanwhile the lens updates promise improved autofocus performance in AF Continuous mode when mounted on the GH3.

Panasonic announces upcoming firmware update for GH3 camera and lenses

Panasonic has announced firmware updates for its Lumix DMC-GH3 high-end movie-focused mirrorless camera, the 14-42mm and 45-175mm power zooms and the 45-150mm. The GH3 update will allow users to connect to a computer via Wi-Fi by entering the computer name (NetBIOS names for Mac). It also adds an MP4 1080p60, 28Mbps mode to video recording. Meanwhile the lens updates promise improved autofocus performance in AF Continuous mode when mounted on the GH3. The updates will be available at the end of this month.

Sony firmware for NEX-7, NEX-6, NEX-5R,NEX-5N and E-mount lenses

Sony has announced a series of firmware updates for its NEX-7, NEX-6, NEX-5R, NEX-5N mirrorless APS-C cameras and two E-mount lenses. Version 1.02 for both NEX-7 and 5N adds automatic lens correction with the 16-50mm E mount lens, as well as a number of other improvements and bugs fixes. Firmware v1.01 for NEX-6 and 5R provides Fast Hybrid AF support with multiple E-mount lenses. Owners of NEX-6 and 5R cameras who use the 50mm f/1.8 or 30mm f/3.5 E mount lenses must first update the latest lens firmware that adds the Fast Hybrid AF capability. Fujifilm updates firmware for X-Pro1, X-E1 and XF 35mm F1.4 R lens

Fujifilm has released firmware updates for its X-Pro1 and X-E1 mirrorless cameras and the XF 35mm F1.4 R lens. The updates for both cameras introduce compatibility with the XF 14mm F2.8 R wideangle lens, and promise improved autofocus performance. Version 1.04 for the X-E1 also includes tweaks for users of external remote releases and the MIC-ST1 stereo microphone. Nikon issues firmware update for D4 professional DSLR

Nikon has issued a minor firmware update for its D4 professional DSLR. Versions A 1.04 and B 1.02 improve performance of the camera's Subject Tracking AF feature in AF-C (continuous-servo autofocus) mode. Sony to release firmware updates for A-mount and E-mount systems

Sony has announced it plans to release several firmware updates for A-mount and E-mount systems on February 4, 2013. Updates to Alpha and NEX bodies relate mostly to lenses, including the addition of Dual-AF support for 11 lenses on the A99, and Fast Hybrid AF support for six E-mount lenses on the NEX-5R and NEX-6, among others. Three E-mount lenses also get updates to enable Fast Hybrid AF support. See table below for more detail on which bodies and lenses will get updates.

Pentax Ricoh updates firmware for GR Digital IV

Pentax Ricoh has announced a firmware update for its GR Digital IV compact camera. Version 2.21 adds an Auto option to the camera's Dynamic Range Compensation feature, promises to improve the Noise Reduction function at higher ISO settings and enhances zoom operation in playback mode. Canon update for EOS 5D Mark III to offer uncompressed HDMI output

Canon has announced it will be releasing a firmware update for the EOS 5D Mark III that will provide uncompressed HDMI output for videographers. It will also enable autofocus using lens / teleconverter combinations with an effective aperture of f/8, using the camera's central cross-type AF points in a similar fashion to the recently-released EOS-1D X Firmware 1.1.1. However EOS 5D Mark III owners will have to wait until April 2013 before the new firmware becomes available.

Canon EOS-1D X firmware update allows focusing with F8 lens combinations

Canon has issued firmware v1.1.1 for its flagship EOS-1D X full-frame DSLR. The update adds three options for indicating the selected AF point when in AI Servo autofocus mode. This includes red illumination, rather than just darkening the selected point, making the camera easier to work with in low light. The update also allows the central AF point to act as a cross-type point when working with lens/teleconverter combinations that give a maximum aperture of F8. This capability is currently only available with F5.6 (or brighter) combinations.
