Fujifilm has today posted firmware version 2.12 for the FinePix S3 Pro and a new plug-in for Hyper Utility Software HS-V2. The new firmware updates the auto rotate function as well as adding support for the AF-S Nikon and AF-VR Nikon lenses and the use of higher capacity storage media. Version 3.1 of the Hyper Utility software enables remote camera operation via FireWire connection between the camera and the computer.

Firmware and software updates for Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro

Fujifilm has today announced a firmware update and software update for the FinePix S3 Pro digital SLR.

This update incorporates the following:

• Updates the Auto Rotate function
• Enables lens interchange while camera power is left on (applies to some AF-S Nikon and AF-VR Nikon lenses)
• Updates the compatibility for high capacity storage media

The firmware update requires the camera to be tethered to a mains supply via the AC Power Adaptor. For owners without the adaptor, the upgrade can be carried out at Fujifilm's London office in Swiss Cottage or the Service Centre in Bedford. UK customers should contact 01234 245383 to arrange the update with a member of Fujifilm's service team. US customers without an adapter should call the Fujifilm US Camera Repair Centre on 1-800-659-3854 and select option #1.

The software update is a plug-in to the existing Hyper Utility Software HS-V2 version 3.1, and enables remote camera operation via FireWire connection between camera and computer. It can be downloaded straight to the owner's computer.
