The fix involves a firmware update (i.e. no parts are replaced and the camera body is not opened to perform the fix). The fix can be done on the spot (takes ~15 minutes to perform the update) if one takes the camera to a local Canon service center. The firmware update will not be made available for download because it requires special equipment to perform the update that modifies the "OS" area (as opposed to the "patch" area that can be accessed via USB by users)." |
