Kodak today announce the Kodak DC290 which is a 2.1 (? actually the CCD is 2.3 megapixels) megapixel version of the Kodak DC265. Oh, and there's an uncompressed mode... Suggested retail price $1,099.

Oddly they seem to have opted for an optional interpolated resolution which pushes the image up to 2240x1500 (Ultra mode) which equates to 3.3 megapixels. Remember, this is just interpolated, not the true resolution of the CCD (you can't create detail you don't capture).

Announced today were the Kodak DC290 zoom digital camera with 2.1-megapixel resolution, the Kodak DC280 zoom digital camera with two-megapixel resolution and responsive performance, the Kodak DC215 zoom digital camera, the company's most affordable and compact megapixel digital camera, and the Kodak DVC325, a high-speed Universal Serial Bus (USB) digital video camera. Also introduced were Kodak Quick Prints, an easy digital-to-silver-halide solution; Kodak Inkjet Photo Letter Paper; Kodak Inkjet Picture Kits for Photo Prints; an 80-minute CD; and two DVD offerings.

With extremely high resolution to appeal to both businesses and advanced amateur photographers, the auto-focus, auto-exposure Kodak DC290 zoom digital camera features 2.1-megapixel resolution that captures highly detailed images suitable for 11 x 14-inch prints and an uncompressed ``ultra'' mode for the maximum image quality. It has a suggested price of $1,099.

Other noteworthy features are: Audio recording and playback, "Upgradable over the Internet" which sounds like an automated firmware update.
