PC Watch reports on two days of PMA
Tuesday, 24 August 1999  04:00 GMT

pcwatch The excellent Japanese technology magazine PC Watch have yet again provided comprehensive coverage of the preview day and first public day of PMA '99.

To summarise (for those non-Japanese literate readers amongst you):

Preview (Press) Day (17/Feb/99)
http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/pc/docs/article/990218/pma1.htm

Toshiba launch the PDR-M4 2.1 Megapixel camera (picture here), the PDR-M4 is a single focal length (no zoom). (I covered this previously in news).

Agfa launch the CL-50 1.3 Megapixel camera (picture here), the CL-50 offers up to 1600 x 1200 by using Agfa's unique PhotoGenie interpolation software.

Minolta showed a Dimage EX Zoom 1500 with a MetaCreations add-on which enables it to take 3D images (picture here).

Minolta also launched their 2.7 Megapixel Dimage RD-3000 digital SLR (picture here) which was shown with an IBM 340Mb CF Type II hard disk inside it... interesting.

Public Day One (18/Feb/99)
http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/pc/docs/article/990219/pma2.htm

Konica (that well known digital camera manufacturer.. hmm) announce their Q-M200 2.1 Megapixel camera with a fixed 38mm lens (all these fixed lens 2.1 Megapixel cameras.. anyone would think they were built with the same kit...) (picture here).

Nikon showed off their Coolpix 950 and Coolpix 700 although prices were available for the 700, 950 prices were not available...

More interestingly Nikon were also showing off (what is probably a prototype) of their new Nikon Digital SLR (no name yet) (picture here) and three more pictures available on the page (as linked above). This is probably one of the most interesting new cameras at PMA, even though it won't be released until Autumn this year.
