CES 2014: Hands-on with Kodak's M43 Pixpro S-1 and 'Smart Lenses'
Kodak Pixpro S-1
The S-1 will be available in both black and white, but we were only able to examine the white version. In terms of finish, the S-1 is similar to the budget Nikon 1 S-1, and lacks the refinement of some low-end M43 cameras like Olympus's E-PM2. Speaking of Olympus, the S-1's GUI is distinctly similar to that of PEN-series cameras, although not identical.
There's obviously some Olympus DNA in the firmware though - the S-1 displays the familiar 'Check the status of a lens' error message if you turn it on with the kit zoom in its collapsed configuration.
The flash (which we believe will be bundled with the camera) has a guide number of 6.8 (ISO 100) and draws its power from a dedicated connection on the S-1's hotshoe.
