All hail the mighty engineers of Canon for their purchase of a BIG clamp and a HIGH TECH saw!

I am doing this for a living and I'm really happy with my gear (2x6D, M, XA20 + 5 lenses) in spite do not have enough money to afford the higher priced cameras like 5D3 or 1Dx I really like to have right now.
I am wondering if those who complain Canon not bringing new higher end DLSR models to CES, already have both 5DE3+1Dx+"L" Lenses inside their LowePro now.
BTW all 3 in a row below shoots Fujifilm X-E1 , Sony Cyber-shot , not galleries or wish an Alfa 7...

Come on guys... take a shower, put your pajamas and go to bed early tonight.

Rather than create a successor model G1X, canon has made a toy for kids: N100

How much longer will their other divisions pay for the ads for essentially the same camera with a few tweaks in a market that craves something new everyday? Even the so called dslr killers will eventually saturate the social media market. They're in for a few rough years.

It's not rocket science. There is a flood of new, young buyers whom view the camera very differently, and thus needs of the market has changed.

In all my years of shooting, I've learned that it's best to accept change (even if it's not the kind that jingles).

What a completely underwhelming presence by Canon. Why bother to even attend the show. Low end offerings...gee, great. Glad I wasn't there.

Maybe the sparse attendance was due in part to things quite beyond the manufacturer's control. This event is for those employed in the CE industry and it started while the holiday shopping season is still in full swing (yes the season usually extends to mid January at retail anyway) and about 30 gajillion flights were cancelled between 10/3 and 10/7 preventing many people from getting to the show. While the weather has nothing to do with new product announcements that make you say "wowie" the dearth of new products never prevents the Canon booth from being swamped. Don't judge the booths by dearth of attendees.

Let's send a nod of disappointment to Mother Nature.

I'm disappointed with the CANON! It was informed that it would take n-releases in the CES 2014 event? Now wait for PHOTOKINA is wanting to push the envelope of incompetence!

Wow, what an uninspiring set of products. Not a single thing that interested me . . . not even an iota of interest. (Except to wonder if the repair guys were charging to fix visitors' cameras/lenses.)

Canon now is not Camera Brand, they are the greatest printer company of the world, cannot expect world leading technology on Canon camera...really SAD.

Just curious, what world leading technology did the other companies present? It seems to be a general consensus, that nothing groundbreaking was introduced at this show, at least on the camera front.

It's amazing how thin materials they can use in the chassis of those superteles.

I cannot help but think about the weight and torque they must withstand and still remain precisely aligned.

In case I had one I would probably worry about this a lot. Hehe, "luckily" it seems I will never get my hands on one. :-D

Only... Why writing a "stand report" for such an insignificant event?
To celebrate emptiness?
I like Canon a lot, an I'm perfectly OK if they have nothing new to show in this geek fair. But the stand report (and the stand) was useless.

There's a stand report because it'd be a serious lapse of coverage for a site like this to say nothing about the Canon display at CES. It's news, whether it's interesting, exciting, entertaining, or none of the above.

Well, unless they're holding something back until the last day . . . this is a pathetic bust. We may not see anything worthwhile until Photokina in Sept of 2014. People are going to continue to move on to Sony, Fuji, Olympus, Panny, etc. Canon is still selling, but on their name only at this point. Sad huh?

From a business point of view, it's better to make a profit by selling on your name only, than not making a profit at all, which is currently the case for the other mentioned companies' imaging divisions.
And to be fair, Canon does offer good, solid products at all levels from entry-level to professional, an extensive system of lenses and accessories, and good customer service.

Relevant points indeed. I think I've got an idea for Canon. As you stated "better to make a profit by selling on your name only, than not making a profit at all" . . . Well, let me throw this in for a suggestion to Canon "better to not show up at all at these events, than show up with pathetic laughable offerings".

Apple notoriously doesn't have much of a presence at such electronic shows, because they have their own proprietary Apple shows. Canon might do better in going that route themselves rather than show up with such disappointing offerings as they have done here.

When companies keep putting out stuff we complain that they're flooding the market. When they don't put any new products out we complain that there's nothing new. We really are a bunch of spoiled little...

I an non photography related show, a nice stand to attend customers and CPS people doing their great job should be enough for those who have expensive gear.
It's great to know they are not wasting money on retros nor unnecesarry gear.
